A crowd of hundreds attended the wedding between Ahmed Muhamed Dore and Safia Abdulleh in Guriceel, in the Galguduud region of Somalia. Mr Dore said: "Today God helped me realise my dream."
Mr Dore and his teenage bride are from the same village, and he said that he had waited for her to grow up before proposing.
He said: "I didn't force her, but used my experience to convince her of my love, and then we agreed to marry."
The brides family said she was "happy with her new husband".

Of course she’s happy. How long is she really going to have to put up with him? Then again, don’t know how widows fare over there.
To: rightwingintelligentsia
Honestly, in the society this girl lives in... this is the BEST situation she could hope for.
Ok, beyond the ick factor, what are the odds that this man could actually perform regularly? Not much I’d imagine. Also, at 112, his days are numbered and what time he has left is probably going to be spent napping.
So, here this girl has satisfied her family’s wishes by marrying who they wanted her to, old man croaks before she’s 20, and she will be more free to choose another husband (most likely of her own choosing and she will be more valuable due to wealth left to her by her husband).
Now I know the property laws are different in Islam and Somalia, but if I were her, I’d go this same route. Even if she never marries again, this is less time for her to endure beatings from a more youthful husband. Heck, that old man probably couldn’t hit hard anyway.
Yep, if I were trapped in that situation, it’s what I would think is best too.

Reminds me of a scene in the movie "Big Trouble in Little China" in which Lo-Pan (an ageless (read: OLD AS HELL)) Sorcerer of Little China in San Franfreako marries a young bride to allow him to return to physical form in the "Earth Realm."
Anyone else remember that movie?

So this 112 year old man goes in to see the Imam and says “I just consummated my new marriage to a 17 year old girl.”
“Why are you telling me this?” says the Imam. “But congratulations on your wedding.”
“It’s not just you...” says the man, “I’m telling EVERYBODY!”

Asked about the difference in their ages and the likely physical and health hazards, Ahmed Muhamed Dore replied, “If she dies, she dies.”

Agreed. I’m unsure of her situation after his death, but I would think she would have more control over her own destiny as a widow. This sounds like a dream come true for this girl.
I also think it would be easy enough to hasten his departure into the nether world. Something as simple as a lap dance might do it.
