me too. I have a rather long story to post, but my son is waiting to get online so it will have to wait. Will check in later.....
Better to pay attention to All Saints Day than the debbils night.
Ok, I’ll tell you about what happened to my family but you won’t believe it.
We lived out in the country in a house we’d rented, it was 1984 or 1985, can’t remember which. My youngest daughter Janie was about 13 at the time and had been sleeping in an upstairs bedroom with my niece Sherry, who was 19. Because of the summer heat Sherry wanted Janie to start sleeping in her own room. The first room at the top of the steps.
We had a used twin bed that had been her older sisters bed but just hadn’t put it up yet because being in a strange house Janie had felt better sleeping with Sherry in her bed.
When my ex-husband put the bed together and told Janie she’d have to sleep in it, she begged us not to make her because she was afraid of being alone.
The first night Janie slept in the bed she came running to me crying and scared to death. “Mommy! Mommy! My bed just tried to kill me!” She cried. I said, “What?!!? No way her bed just tried to kill her. I was thinking she just didn’t want to sleep in that big dark room alone.
But Janie was trembling and crying and acting like she was scared to death, so I asked her how her bed had tried to kill her. She said it lifted it’s self up off the floor and tried to dump her over the banister. She said it came up and then tilted while she was hanging onto the side of it for dear life.
Her room was at the top of the stairs and didn’t have a wall, only a banister to keep you from falling to the first floor. But her story sounded so totally unbelievable that I told her she was just having a bad dream and go back to bed.
She didn’t want to go back to bed and I’m ashamed of my self yet today for making her go back and get in that bed but I did it. I made her go back to bed.
The next night the same thing happened. In the middle of the night Janie comes running screaming down the steps and right to me hanging on to me for dear life. “Mommy, please don’t make me sleep in that bed it tried to kill me again!” She was terrified. I’ve never seen anyone so terrified.
I hurts me still today that I still couldn’t find it in me to believe her. I believe in God, I believe in evil, but I couldn’t make myself believe that the bed was lifting up off the floor and trying to dump her over the banister. But seeing my child so terrified I couldn’t make her go back up stairs. I told her to sleep in her father and my bed.
The next day we all went to my Mother’s house and I told Mommy what was going on with Janie. And Mommy got on me for not believing her. My mother was a preacher, The United Fellowship Christian Center was the name of her church. And she told me that being a preacher, she’d seen evil first hand and that I should take what Janie said was happening to her serious.
Mommy made us all, my ex husband, Sherry, Janie, Mommy and me form a circle and hold hands and she prayed and then anointed us all on the forehead with oil.
I’m ashamed to say that I had the roll your eye’s type attitude that night when Mommy did that but I went along because she was my Mother and I always did what my Mother told me to do.
When we got home, when we walked into the house, we heard a loud bang on the floor upstairs. Then another, and another, and it was bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang non stop.
Every one of us looked at each other and we all took off upstairs to see what in the world? But when we got upstairs we saw the bed beside the banister coming up off the floor and bang right back down on the floor. Over and over it came up off the floor and bang, back down on the floor.
I screeched, “We gotta get the bible!” and we all ran downstairs just about running over each other. I grabbed the bible and we all ran back upstairs, and again we just about ran over each other getting there. And then I threw the bible on the bed.
We all stood there holding our breath waiting to see what happened. Nothing. The bed was quiet. There was a collective sigh of relief and we all went back down stairs thankful that the bed had stopped doing what none of us wanted to believe we’d seen it do.
It wasn’t two minutes after we’d gotten downstairs feeling relived before bang, bang, bang, bang, at a feverish pace, twice as fast and twice as hard as before bang, bang, bang, not a second between bangs.
We all ran back upstairs and my ex screamed, “Get out of here!” to me, said, “Take the kids and get out of the house NOW!” And he grabbed the mattress off the jumping bed and run down the stairs right behind us and we all ran outside.
We stood there, Sherry, Janie, and me holding my son who was a little over a year old, watching my ex run back and forth carrying out the box springs, headboard, foot board and rails of the bed. He put them all in a pile and then got our 5 gallon gas can and poured all 5 gallons on the pile and lit it up.
The bed burned and then smoldered for a whole week. My Mother came over and blessed the house and we never had any more trouble.
I have felt all these years that I let my child down because I didn’t believe her when she told me her bed was trying to dump her over the railing. And even though I know it happened to us, it’s still hard to believe. Even though you see it with your own eyes it hard to make yourself accept, that what you saw was possible.
What happened to us only strengthened my belief in God and I never rolled my eyes again when my Mother wanted us all to pray together or when she wanted to anoint us with oil.
Frickin’ scarin the S out of people by moving like a shadow and standing at the end or side of the bed is no way to reassure anybody, or comfort them.
Ephesian 6:11-12 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Romans 8:38-39 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
I cast thee out, thou unclean spirit, along with the least encroachment of the wicked enemy and every phantom and diabolical legion. In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, depart and vanish from this creature of God.
I'm tempted to scream this at Obama and see what happens.
Ah kep on kickin eem an sayin ‘come outta thar’ but it wuz uh stubborn demon ‘n it wouldn’ come on out.
Well, none of the three were terrified by the event, so I guess Grandpere was being careful about such things. :-)
When I was a freshman in college (1986), some guys in my dorm got together and we used a Ouija Board. I did not believe it was real at all until I tried it. I was shocked at how easily the piece moved across the board. My roommate and I used it together and we spoke to a local “spirit”. We asked if it wanted to “speak” to anyone in the room. It moved to “yes”. When we asked “who” it quickly spelled out my name... We asked what it wanted to talk to me about and it spelled out “death”. We asked it “how?” and it quickly spelled out “fire”. We then hesitated but asked it “when”? It spelled out 198... and my roommate pulled his hand of yelling that he did not want to know...
The next morning our suite-mate, who was a devout Christian, said that he had horrible dreams all night about demons and Satan. We never used it again...
Needless to say, I did not die in a fire in the 1980’s but on December 31, 1989 I was at my then girlfriends house and her parents had me sleeping in the basement bedroom and it was a room with no windows. Had there been a fire in that house...
in the night
We used to play with it. Had some strange things happen, nothing too scary. It was awfully weird how the thing moved, and I know it wasn’t any voluntary movement of myself or the other person. Wouldn’t do it now... bad idea.
Amen... I was really surprised and how quickly it moved. I know I wasn't pushing/pulling it. That was the one an only time I ever used on. Freaked me out...
ping for later
I personally believe it’s not the Ouija boards or the Tarot cards themselves (they are after all inanimate objects) but the powers that people ascribe to them and the ways in which that changes these people.
IOW it’s all in their heads, but what’s in their heads is not healthy.
There are many, many examples of people messing with this stuff (vampire and devil worship too) and getting seriously messed up by it.
Lived in a small house north of Detroit. I guess I was about 8-10 years old at the time(it’s been more than a few years).
Anyway, had been watching TV in the living room one night with my family. I was on the floor leaning up against a chair, which was up against a fairly large picture window. While watching TV I caught an image out of the corner of my eye that appeared to come from the hallway(which led into the living room from the rest of the house). Seeing as whatever it was appeared to be coming right at me, I turned my head quickly in time to see only a foot with a sandal on it hit the floor right next to me and dash out the picture window behind me.
Who/whatever it was was haul’n so I was unable to make out anything more of the image as it passed...other than a foot and part of it’s leg.
One other thing I remember was the sound as well as the feel of the thud as the foot hit the floor within 2 feet(no pun intended)from me. As I said I tried to follow its path by turning my head quickly...only in time to just see the curtains shake as it leaped out the(picture)window behind me.
As I turned back to tell my brother, who had been on the floor directly across from me at the time, I could immediately tell by the look on his face he had seen it also. And he proceeded to describe it to our parents exactly as I had seen it.
My parents(and perhaps another sibling)were in the same(small)room watching TV with us, but had seen nothing. Of course, in trying to explain it, they thought we had seen the dog...or the air from the register caused yada, yada.......no way.
Why only the two of us in the room saw it...and no one else? Who knows....(our birthdays are 1 day apart...for whatever that’s worth)
We are both now over 50, still occasionally talk about “the foot”.
He and I have experienced more than our fair share of miserable moments in our lives. Both of us sometimes wonder if one was related to the other (heh...Touched By A (bad) Angel)
Guess we’ll never know. Not in this life anyway ;)
Funny thing is, every time I see the goodyear tire symbol(”the winged foot”)it reminds me of...whatever it was.
(Oops, just as I was going to post this...Free Republic locked up on me, Q the twilight zone music)
About 10 or so years ago I joined a Life In the Spirit Seminar that was part of our church, it was teaching all about the holy spirit. I loved it, we prayed, studied scriptures. The course was about 6 to 8 weeks. Right towards the end while I was asleep one night a heavy presence was on my chest and it was hard to breathe. I remember starting to panic when I heard a voice tell me to deny Christ and the presence would leave. I know this is going to sound crazy but after hearing that I got very angry because here I was studying scriptures and becoming closer to my Lord and something was trying to get me to deny him. Well I screamed in the name of the word incarnate, Jesus leave me alone. When I opened my eyes I was afraid that I had woke up the kids and scared them. But only my husband stirred and asked me if I was ok. I thought it was probably a very vivid dream until I had come across a Nun, whom I can’t remember her name, I am thinking of Bridge McKenna, said the same thing had happened to her. The next week at the Seminar group I told the group what happened and they were not surprised. it seemed that those kind of things happened to people the closer they become with God.
Thanks for your thoughtful ping.
It’s NOT a topic I have interest in.
Actually, I have a lot of aversion to it.
The UFO stuff is as close as I care to get . . . and that’s more of as a watchman DUTY.
Just wanted to add this link to the thread.
More about ouija boards and other things here.
