OKEECHOBEE - Trevor Keezer didn't start working at The Home Depot to make a religious statement. He just wanted to earn money for college.
"I want to go to school to become a nurse," said the 20-year-old Okeechobee resident.
Keezer says for 19 months, ever since he started working as a cashier at The Home Depot in Okeechobee, he's worn a button with an American flag on it that reads: "One nation under God, indivisible."
Keezer sees the quotation, taken from the pledge of allegiance, as his way of supporting American troops at war, and of expressing his Christian faith.

Soviet Union circa 1937.
This will give me all the more reason to go to my friendly neighborhood Ace hardware store instead of Home Depot when I need something. This is just downright pathetic of Home Depot and stinks of Political Correctness run amok.
dreadful.
What is HD’s dress code and do they apply it consistently?
First they sponsor the kids’ day thing at the Nashville HOMO Day festivities. Now this. Ace and Lowes will be getting more of my business from now on.
This was a private business, not a government agency. Does it fall under the Moral Absolutes catagory?
Ever since they went Fortune 100, the commie rat stards have tightened their grip.
Two part question, two part answer:
Does not matter, as he wore it for 19 months. Apparently not as he wore the badge for 19 months!
I will respond by not buying from such chain outlets if at all possible.
‘Wonder if they could fold a dollar bill and display the “in God we trust’.
It’s called Homo Depot for a reason.
He was arrested?
Well, just DAMN!
Anybody know about Ace??
I’m sure the ACLU has rushed to his aid.
No surprise to me....I used to work @ the Home Depot here in Ft. Smith, AR & the General Manager there is a 350-lb butch wearing a crew cut & 3 earrings on each ear. ( GAAAAAAG! Where's my barf bag?)
I guess Home Depot doesn’t care that they have offended many Christians/Patriots by this unjust firing. They don’t want our business, apparently.
If he had worn a pin with the likeness of Karl Marx, he would have been celebrated and given a raise.
Sure enough, I betcha' there's more to the story.
However, just once, I would LOVE to see a Christian group picket and call for a boycott of the store by consumers.
I hate to say it, but so am I: after reading the article, it looks like he refused to take it off, so he was sent home. He then didn't show up to work for 6 days, so he was fired. Whether you like them or not, FOLLOW THE RULES.
More like Homo Despot!
Fine. Leave the gay supporting Home Depot and go work at Lowe’s. There’s gotta be one nearby ... there usually is.
He can wear all the buttons he wants to on his time. When you go to work for a company, you abide by their rules of attire. What’s so difficult to understand?
That’s true. However, this company is apparently quit PC. Just select Lowes.
I agree. I believe management can always use discretion and tact when dealing with sensitive situations in the workplace. There is probably more going on “internally” at this store.
I am so sick of this crap. It is not offensive to profess a belief. It is offensive to take someone else’s belief and slander it for the sole intent of being offensive. This is like the whining crybabies at Penn St.
But a Muslim employee who demands a place to pray five times a day is okay.
Home Depot just lost a bunch of business from my family, from several states, and we usually spend a whole lot of money there.
bflr, maybe enough not to shop there any more
Wally world has gone over the bend. I don’t shop there anymore at all. Plenty of other stores that want business from 90% of the country.
Home Depot is the Goverment?
I like the idea of passing the buttons out to people going in the store, hey let the whole town do it. But seriously on that same site was a story of one of the Seinfeld creators pissing on a portrait of Christ. This country has been media fed of everything that goes against the teaching of Christ and so they fell very comfortable doing things such as that. Hollywood is a cesspool that is destroying our cultural.
