ABC puts the first 8 minutes of V online. It's not bad!

ABC has posted the first eight and a half minutes of its upcoming reboot of V, the alien-invasion series that kicks off on Nov. 3.

Not much we haven't seen in promos before, but the clip introduces the main characters briefly before getting right into it: The arrival of 29 ginormous alien spacecraft over the major cities of the world, including New York.

Why couldn’t they have just made more episodes of Dragonfly?

I liked the preview of the TV interview I saw last night where the alien asked that she not be asked any questions that might paint them in a bad light.

I will try to watch “V” now that I need a replacement for the Flashforward show. I have been watching FF for four episodes and all of the sudden last week they decide to make two of the characters gay. Enough with the homosexual agenda! I don’t want to see two women making out at 8:00 at night (or any time). It is hard to find good clean television these days.

I thought it was cool that they acknowledged "Independence Day", and that ID was derived from any number of previous alien invasion movies.

Of course, one of those previous ones was the original "V". :-)

Not in my opinion. I thought that was the best sci-fi series ever.

For some reason I couldn't get into gallactica... perhaps I watched 3 episodes.

Why, why, why does their ALWAYS have to be a single parent with some punk ass kid in these shows? We all know what is going to happen: “Tyler” is going to be the protagonist in about 90% of the episodes. Tyler worships V's and tells his mother to buzz off. Tyler screws V chick and gets some weird V disease. Tyler fathers a half-human, half-V lizard thingy that will take on mankind's plight. Blah blah blah.

Regarding Flashforward:
all of the sudden last week they decide to make two of the characters gay

While watching the last episode I was telling my wife that I really liked FF and while talking to her the gay seen hit. She made a comment and walked away. Sigh.

The last in-depth study on the subject put gays at 2.1% of the population which included bisexuals. Perhaps TV writers think it's 21%...

Might be worth a look. The old "Visitors" show from the 80's was really pretty good.

I wonder how many folks will appreciate the irony of the cute alien chick saying "Just don't ask any questions that would portray us in a negative light."

Hubby and I are glad that we are not alone in our dismay/disgust with the storyline on last week's FlashForward. We were actually enjoying that show; but, hubby is talking to me right now about us just stopping our watching of that show.

One of the other things that annoyed me was how much time was wasted on that particular storyline.

what annoyed me about starship gallatica is humanity is on the brink of extinction, and they’re still concerned about human rights? Most of the citizen act without any care in the world, while only a few hundred who join the military is the only thing that stand in the way of their total extinction.

The beginning will look good. It’s the end you have to watch out for. If it’s from ABC, it’ll boil down to something like this:

The visitors are here, and their eating us, and although that looks bad, it’s actually an attempt to save Gaea from global warming because they were the original species to occupy the planet before they’ve left for space. They’ve now come back to clean up the mess caused by the eeeeeeeeevil humans and corrupt conservative government.

Wow that looks like fun...however, I don’t hold much hope because I know the Marxists will manage to wreck by worming in their sickening propaganda. How will they work Dear Leader’s “volunteer” black shirts, socialized medicine, global warming, and global government programs into this plot?

I can hope for change, I guess. It would be great if the Leftists did no wreck a fun television program with this invasion story line and everyone could enjoy it.

I have a sort of prophetic vision that this series will not be viewed favorably by Obama, that too many little nuances will connect him to what they are.

I saw the original series and have read the books, my generation remembers but the NOW generation has yet to see the truth behind the facade.

I think you’re plot is backwards. The aliens will be evil capitalist lizards whose planet was destroyed when they ignored the dangers of global warming. They now travel the universe pillaging other planets.

Humanity will have to band together in a Marxist collective utopia to defeat the aliens and save Mother Earth while learning that there is no God.

You noticed that too?

Second otherwise high potential show to be killed by the militant perverts.

When that happened with two guys, repeatedly on the previously popular show Torchwood, I (and apparently most of its viewership) simply stopped watching.

Bon Voyage, Flashforward!

Most of the citizen act without any care in the world, while only a few hundred who join the military is the only thing that stand in the way of their total extinction.

I only saw a couple of the Battlestar Galactica episodes of the last season and bought the whole series on DVD to watch with the wife from the beginning. We watch an episode or two every week. I am in the middle of Season 2 right now and if anything, this show has treated the military with the utmost respect. Commander Adama is in charge of all military decisions and the Woman President is in charge of the fleet. There was one story arc where a young LT was in charge of a ground unit that had crashed upon a planet and he was shown as a complete incompetent. It did not strike me as a slap at the military in the context of the story. The LT was a pilot and had never had a command and a Senior NCO that was with him did his best to guide him.

As to why there are no people clamoring to join the military on that show, 90% of the combat on that show takes place in space with Colonial Vipers and Raptors taking on enemy Cylon Raiders. From what I have seen, ground combat takes place by accident or when a ground unit is sent as security.
