There's not going to be any public decision about additional troops before the Afghanistan runoff election, which IIRC is scheduled for November 7th. The good news is that Abdullah, the other candidate who might beat Karzai, comes across as a reasonable guy who favors US presence.

Apparently some people think that if we send in a lot of troops while the election is still contested and the government seems corrupt and illegitimate, it might be more likely that the whole thing will turn out like the Russian invasion.

But who knows what Obama will do even if the election mess is cleared up.

Very seriously I say that this President is stalling the decision for political gain from his left so he can get healthcare passed.
It is not acceptable behavior for the President of the United States of America.
