Most amazing thing I have seen...musically!
YouTube ^
Posted on 10/17/2009 9:17:16 PM PDT by rlmorel

I have seen some amazing musicians, but this kid's performance ranks. I can't remember last time I saw something musical that made my mouth hang open in astonishment, but this one did.
This guy plays Vivalid's Concerto In G Minor (for Violin, String Orchestra and Continuo, Op. 8, No. 2, RV 315, "L'estate" (Summer): III. Presto) on Accordion)
And it isn't just that he plays it...he absolutely smokes it! You have got to see this (linked to YouTube: Kid nails Vivaldi on an accordion!

(Borrowing from a Gary Larson cartoon) I’m convinced that when our friends on the other side of the aisle die and go to Hell, greeting them is a band made up of thousands of bagpipers, banjo players and accordionists.
And they are playing “Baby Elephant Walk.”

Actually, I had to look this guy up, and it is a ‘concertina’. I have no idea what the difference is, but...I’m gonna find out...:)
This is a little snippet I found:
Aleksandr Hrustevich, Internet Accordion Star
On the Internet can you become a star overnight; just ask Ukranian accordionist Aleksandr Hrustevich. Late last week, this video of Hrustevich performing the third movement of Summer from Vivaldis Four Seasons swept across the Internet faster than his fingers across his bayan (Russian chromatic button accordion). From NPR to Digg, viewers raved about his performance, mostly along the lines of Wow, I never knew an accordion could sound like this! Indeed it can.

Sounds more like a Bach organ piece.
Anyway, why is it that we are only copying what was composed 300-400 years ago? Nobody ever composes anything new anymore.

I hate the accordion, but that was no ordinary accordion. Instead of a single row of 24 piano-style keys (as most "accordians" have), this thing had a couple hundred
buttons that he was
smoking on.
Ridiculous. Amazing. Inhuman.

Two amazing things. First, of course, is the ability of this guy. Second, I was just sitting here listening to Vivaldi (Vivaldi's Greatest-The Seasons-LSO), and then I check in at FR, and see your post.
Did you read the comments? I found one that was especially good...

"What do you do?" she asks, feigning interest...
"I'm a musician..." he replies.
"OH! What do you play?" she asks, trying to feign disinterest.
"The accordion." he replies.
"Oh." She states, not feigning at all.
"Yea, I'm kind of a virtuoso..." he says, picking up his accordion.

.
By the third measure, she is his.
I'm still smiling.

I don't know about that, but if you want to see/hear a great rendition of it on a Guitar, go to
youtube and watch Jose Feliciano nail it in his own inimitable style. (only 1:49 long)
