Forget what you've heard about a glut of new houses on the market.
For three years, Dallas-Fort Worth builders have sold more homes than they have constructed. So the inventory of finished new houses has fallen so low that homebuyers may encounter a shortage when next year's market kicks off.

Yes, and bring your businesses and weapons.
“Texas is not where you were born, but a State of Mind, Heart and Attitude.”
It goes something like this:
“Leave us alone to live our lives in peace and we will get along fine, if that is not statisfactory, we will deal with it.”
All of what you say is true - except if you were to check out the population by group, particularly in the schools, you would find an awful lot of them are in ESL classes. Mexico is moving north!
The Dallas ISD is well over 70% ESL. I don’t know if you have kept up with the news here, but most of the ESL students did not have required vaccinations to attend school, and refused to get them. So, the DISD would not let them attend class until they had the vaccines. The schools were empty for the past three weeks. How those kids will ever catch up is a mystery to me.
How to catch up with school work after a 3 week absence? At least two answers. One-how much do they really cover so how much have they really missed? Two-who really cares, except for the school district who has to be missing out on money. Next thing you know, school district will be sending someone to the home to give the kids shots so they can come back. Wonder why they won’t get shots? Surely they don’t think someone is trying to “do them in”!
Lots of initials in your post, but how is the construction business?
ISD=Independent School District, ESL=English as Second Language, DISD=Dallas Independent School District.
Schools systems here in Texas are the responsibility of the local towns. Even the small towns have independent schools which give local control to the city and parents.
Construction—I really can’t answer that question. I see lots of building going on here, but that is simply what I see in my daily travels around the area.
My son is presently upgrading and enlarging due to the fact that “Suburban” Houston has not been hit near as hard as the rest of the US and he looks at it as an investment. He hasn’t failed yet
Texas is something different indeed.
Most of my ancestors came here during Reconstruction. Some of my ancestors were here during the Republic of Texas.
My family has owned and operated farms in Haskell County since 1886. But I know lots of good Texans who have recently come to the state that Love it as much as I do. We need them all now, and may need more in the future to protect her.

And it never will!
Interested in the construction in the Dallas area, here in the Phoenix area construction is really depressed.
I suspect it is MUCH better here than in Phx.
Have to admit until you wrote about him, I had never heard of Steve Earle. I am not really a music fan, but do like some Country music (older) and some instrumental music.
My leanings are “technical” and have little time for just listening.
“Speed trap up ahead Selma town
but no local yokel’s gonna slow me down...”
Steve Earl was also great in “The Wire”
Have never heard either song. Shows my music ignorance.
The lyrics were from a song called “Guitar Town” but “The Wire” reference was to a HBO series where he played a recovering drug addict.
Thanks for info. I also watch very little TV.
Have not subscribed to a newspaper for 10 years, but glean the web for news. Feel I am better informed than anytime in my life (am 62).
Hold my own with the young techies, but learning is slower when you are older. Still pretty up to speed technically.
Especially with RF. Old love of my tech life. Been a Ham Operator since 1976. Also commercial license.
