Did anyone notice the person sitting in about the 3rd row behind home plate with a sign that said “TBS GO SOX SEE YOU MONDAY”. I cant imagine how upset I’d be if I were sitting behind that person. They kept holding up the sign when the pitcher was pitching. I’m sure the fellow sitting behind them had their view blocked.
Indeed.
I watched the ending. Papelbon had it and screwed it up big time.
Let the good times roll!!
excellent
Not really a sports fan, but I just went over to ESPN to watch Boston fans twist in the wind in their ‘Conversation’ forum. There is a comment posted there that is one of the most vile things I have ever read. G-d help this guy if the Angels players ever track him down...
Papelbon strikes me as kind of a strange dude with that Irish dancing or whatever the hell it is.
On to New York!
He’ll be doing it somewhere outside of Boston next year.
“I can’t imagine how upset Id be if I were sitting behind that person.”
Had one of those idiots in front of me at a BC game...took the sign and tore it up..got a nice round of applause...the idiot got security to try to throw me out, security got booed and embarrassed and went away...very satisfying...I recommend it to everyone stuck behind one of these morons...
Does this mean that “Jon Cary” an Bwany Fwank are sad today? LOL
I’d like to see the Twinkies make a series of it but they’re not too confidence inspiring.
The only teams more hated than the Red Socks are the Yankees & Steelers
As a diehard Angels fan I am SO happy that they won. They did it for Nick Adenhart, who died in April in a drunk driving accident. One hell of a game, I didn’t think we could win but then Big Daddy Vladi did what he does best. AWESOME GAME!
Vladimir Guerrero(notes) and the Los Angeles Angels shrugged off their postseason failures and swept the Boston Red Sox out of the playoffs.
Guerrero hit a two-out, two-run single off Jonathan Papelbon(notes) in the ninth inning and the Angels rallied past Boston 7-6 in Game 3 Sunday, advancing to the AL championship series for the first time since 2005.
Yanks are POWERLESS against the Angels, Dodgers/Angels?
Did you see TBS after wards. They looked like someone died. Such bias
The beyond vile comment I saw at ESPN involved Nick...
Not a surprise, those are the same people that probably voted for Obama
I would add Dalls Cowboys and Notre Dame as two teams that inspire quite a bit of hate.
I’m a lifelong Angels fan too! I was a Junior Angel back in the day.
I am so proud of the way this team has unified at the end of this season. They’ve had quite a few awful setbacks but they seem to have made up their minds that they are getting this done!
They also voted unanimously to give Adenhart’s family a share of the post season bonuses.
Let’s go, Angels. Let’s go!
I’m hoping for the freeway series, Angels vs Dodgers, now THAT would be AWESOME.
My cousin worked for the Angels a few years ago, great organization, damn, if he still worked for them he could get a ring(If we win it all) oh well..now he is back working for Ticketmaster, maybe he can hook me up with tickets :-) Gotta do it for Nick, was so sad the way he died but it was so wonderful how the team came together and made a wonderful tribute to him. This win is for him. You should have seen all the Boston trolls going on the Angels message board talking crap when it looked like we would lose, then they all disappeared once we won. Typical trolls GO ANGELS!!
YES!!!
...at least none of the games would get snowed out!!
BTW that game has to go down as one of the best ever. I actually watched it(TV version)for the 1st time a couple of years ago. Al Micheals might be famous for his USA vs.USSR Hockey play-by-play...he was equally good broadcasting that classic game.
"If you're just joining us...too bad for you."
Don’t hate the Sox. They worked hard to get rid of that Curse....
Dodgers/Angels would be nice to see as game 7 of the World Series is scheduled for Nov. 5th. Anywhere else the weather this time of year is bad for baseball. Esp. since all games have to be night games for TV purposes.
Baseball should not schedule the playoffs and World Series so late in the year, but that’s another story for another thread.
It wasn't a curse. They just really sucked for 86 years.
The Yankees just won 2 out of 3 in Anaheim. The Angels - Yankees series this year is 5 - 5.
Congratulations to the homies down in the OC:)
I listened until time to go to Mass. They were setting up the rally at that point....Amazing, just amazing.
It could happen.
"the OC" = the Orange County?
If their fans could behave with some semblance of CLASS when they come to Baltimore I might have some sympathy. But they don’t.
Congrats to the Angels and their loyal fans...a VERY well-deserved victory.
I don’t want to jinx it so I haven’t gotten out all my stuff from the World Series yet. One game at a time!
It looked to me like Weaver was tracing NA in the dirt of the mound before he threw out his first pitch. The official team photo for 2009, given on Fan Appreciation Day, says, “Fan Strong 2009” and the “O” in “strong is the black 34 patch that they are all wearing. It’s a very nice tribute.
I think the entire team has decided to fight for a ring to give Adenhart’s family.
It’s very satisfying beating the Sox so soundly. Their fans are terrible when they are at the Big A. I love they way this team pulled the rug right out from under them!
