I don’t get it. Is Palin connected to airplanes somehow? Is she a pilot? Is that her plane?

Nah. It’s the Memphis Belle, famous bomber from WW2.
A play on a theme, I suppose...
Palin is taking flak from the msm/lefties ‘cause she’s right on target with her critiques...
(tough crowd today...)
cheers!

It isn’t over the target. The bomb bay doors are not open.

It’s a handsome graphic, but you’d have to be a pretty devoted student of the history of aviation to figure that out. For those who are not among the initiated, the immediate reaction is to say, “Wasilla Belle—oh, do they have planes like that in Wasilla? Does that poster mean Governor Palin flies one?” I’m sorry for not being more enthusiastic when you have obviously put so much thought and skill into this.

I caught the graphic meaning right off.
Had a relative who was a B-17 pilot.
Flew over 24 missions over Europe and came home
in a box.

Very nicely done - sent it to some other aircraft buddies of mine.

Nah. Its the Memphis Belle, famous bomber from WW2.
Figuratively not literally, right?
The plane in your picture is a B-17G restored as a B-17G, not the real Belle (which is an "F" model Fort currently being restored at NMUSAF in Ohio) or the viz-modded B-17G that played the Belle in the Matthew Modine movie and which tours the country as part of the airshow circuit.
Which B-17 is that in the picture? Collings Foundations "Nine-0-Nine"?

Rules are made for people who arent willing to make up their own. - Chuck Yeager You are the ONLY other person I've ever known of to mention that quote, which is from his book "Press On." (verbatim, it is: "I've always said that the rules are made for people who aren't willing to make up their own.") When I read it, I laughed out loud because it so totally describes my dad, and I guess every innovative person alive. In fact, it really describes all kinds of Americans who take the so-called "wisdom" of being conventional with a grain of salt. Americans didn't create America by following other peoples' rules.
