"With the last 2 hip-hop concerts we've had an officer shot and killed and a downtown employee that was knifed and put in the hospital," said Warren Wright, Ft. Myers City Council Ward 1.The Ft. Myers police department has no statistics showing a link between increased violence and hip hop concerts, which leaves some to believe a ban on hip hop could be a violation of rights.

"It does have the undertone of racism," said Willie Green of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference.

For now a ban on hip hop concerts is just a discussion set to be addressed at a city council meeting on

At some point people will get tired enough of the double standard to do away with it.

Imagine if a group of Swedes came to do a minstrel show, or something more pointedly unkind to American Negroes.

11 folks trampled at a Who concert in Cincinnati when the doors were shut THIRTY years ago

1 black man knifed by HA for pulling a gun at Altamont FORTY years ago

do you really wish to try to weigh that against thug culture violence body count going on daily right now and quite prevalent at any event thug culture gathers around?

lol...you should be a lawyer for lost causes

I can understand refusing to allow concerts by particular performers whose past performances have coincided with mayhem, but banning an entire genre?

A local government can refuse to permit any event they like.

In Lebanon TN where I own businesses they have a Slammin and Jammin thug event each spring attended by mostly wigs and real deals and they shoot at each other, stab one another, dog fight, rape and trash up the place each year.

I would love to see it banned.

Local TV interviewed me about it last year. I pissed off the Patels and their little motels...tuff shite.

How many people were stomped to death at the who concert and how many fights at Stones concert ?

How many of those people were looking for a fight and an opportunity to hurt or kill others?

The Who concert was a tragedy, but it was not a purposeful one.

"Hip Hop"="Rap"="kill Whitey and all womens is ho's to be taken 'caus my thing wants it."

There is no comparison.

I am amazed that any venue lets these animals spew their racist and misogynist filth, since it always results in rape and/or murder. Because that is what the syncopated speaking (not "music" by any known definition of the word) glorifies and justifies.

As an aside, any non-Black person who listens to that crap is a self-hater. It goes without saying that any Black person who listens to that is a racist, just like the TOTUS-reader and, especially, his wife.

I forgot about the Slamming & Jamming event this year
and got into that mess this year...we live in Gallatin.

Feel sorry that ya`ll have to put up those hoodlums every year.Bet it is a **tch for a person with a business.

That was a disaster we got into trying to get to the Wilson
Co Fair when there was grid-locked traffic this year.

My wife and mom and myself couldn`t believe the amount of
people trying to go to the fair.
