Dying chicken lays 138-gram egg

HONEOYE FALLS, N.Y., An upstate New York farmer said a recently deceased chicken left behind an impressive legacy -- an egg weighing 138 grams, almost 5 ounces.
Chris Schauerman of Honeoye Falls said he noticed one of his chickens appeared ill one day last week and died later that night after laying the massive object, which is 2 1/2 times the size of an average egg, CNN reported Monday.
"I just couldn't believe it," Schauerman said. "You open up the chicken coop, and sitting inside the nest with five other eggs is just this behemoth."
"We kind of related it to a woman having a 25-pound baby, if you do the math," Schauerman said. "I'm pretty sure that's what eventually led to the death of the chicken."
Schauerman said he is loaning the egg to a teacher friend for show-and-tell with schoolchildren before it goes on to fulfill its final purpose.
"I'm gonna make an omelet. Maybe a little ham. Delicious !" Schauerman said.

I guess we’ll have to revise that saying out how a chicken is involved in providing you with a ham and egg breakfast, but the pig is committed.

Who knows what kind of filthy ChiCom pollution caused it to get that big.
Feel bad for the bird.

Imagine what that must do to the rest of the chickens. Egg production might be a little below average after lay a big one and die.

Maybe that egg could be a metaphor for Obamacare. And the late chicken a symbol of Der Fuhrer’s political career.

Looks like a dinosaur egg. Maybe they should have kept it incubated to see if a throwback popped out.

No yolk for hen
A hen has produced an egg with a difference.
The eye-watering odd-shaped egg was produced by the hen in Slivno, southern Croatia.
"I thought it was some sort of odd-shaped potato. I couldn't believe it had come out of one of my hens," said farmer Neda Glibota, 72.
"I called friends to look at it and they were just as amazed as me. None of us have seen anything like it before," Neda added.
Now the egg has been spared the frying pan as proud Neda has put it on show.

I would never eat a giant chicken egg like that. The reason something is abnormal is there is usually something wrong with it.
I did see a video of a man opening one though. Inside was another, normal sized chicken egg. I guess the poor chicken was forming layers, like a hailstone.
