You’d be surprised how many of these guys aren’t actually homeless. You can make good money panhandling if you’ve got the right spot and look. Friend of mine used to buy beggars hotdogs from street vendors, said you could tell which ones were homeless and which were fakers, homeless people are grateful for food, fakers want cash.

Whenever a panhandler/vagrant with or without a ‘sign’ asks me for money, I yell “Go Ask Obama!!!” Some are so “out of it” they barely notice — others get really angry and start cussing me out. Ha.
Here’s a great little side story —
Childhood friend of mine in Mass., now a total lefty thanks to decades of influence from her husband, lost her job at a well known clothing manufacturer in MA — she was just one of many and the company’s problems are due to economy, ownership change, re-org, etc. Pretty typical stuff these days.
Friend is having a hard time getting over this ‘crisis’ despite great severance and unemployment compensation, etc. She wrote me to say she wants to write Michelle Obama and tell her all about this and what the mean nasty company is doing!
Not sure what she expects Meeshell to DO about such a thing, and friend thinks her severance could be affected if she writes Meeshell. Oh please — I wrote back and said, sure, go ahead and write to FLOTUS —
I did say, however, that I think Zero is so busy taking over every other industry in the country that womens’ clothing will be kind of low on the list!
The stupidity of my old friend’s scenario reminds me of those idiots who dial 911 because they can’t get McNuggets at local McDonalds -— Geesh!
My husband is currently unemployed and I have been teasing him about putting him on a street corner to panhandle,they seem to make a good living around here, except from the looks of them, they spend it all on meth. I also found some clinical trials yesterday that pay up to $1200 for participants, but he complained [jokingly] that I was trying to donate his body to science before he’s even dead yet ; )
My ex was big on giving away our doggie bag food from restaurants to homeless folk. I remember one time she gave away a pizza I was planning on eating for lunch the next day and pissed me off. Half the reason was that I knew the bum didn’t really want it. Sure enough the dude just tossed it in the bushes. Pepperoni don’t buy crack/booze.
