Todd and I would like to offer our best wishes to the Jewish community as they celebrate the High Holy Days. With the celebration of the Jewish New Year this week and the observance of the Day of Atonement next week, we are reminded of the hopeful commitment to renewal and peace exemplified by the Jewish tradition and the Jewish people throughout history.
Yom Kippur, the most solemn and important of the Jewish holy days, is a time of reflection and supplication for forgiveness. The timeless human struggle to promote justice, harmony, and peace is seen here in this process of atonement in humbly seeking pardon for past wrongs in the hope of a new beginning. It reminds us that if we wish to co-exist globally, we must all strive for forgiveness and tolerance.
A speech was given at the United Nations General Assembly yesterday that was full of hateful anti-Semitic rhetoric. It was a shameful display before a body whose very charter is premised on the need for co-operation and harmony in pursuit of peaceful co-existence between nations. Such talk was especially abhorrent coming as it did during the Jewish High Holidays. The world community must speak with one voice in declaring anti-Semitism and all forms of intolerance and racism utterly unacceptable. There is no place in the community of peace-loving nations for those who traffic in hate or deny the terrible atrocity of the Nazi Holocaust.
In this holy season, we join the Jewish people in the struggle to promote justice, harmony, and peace. May God bless them.
- Sarah Palin
Thank you Sarah Palin for continuing to speak out for what is right. Thank you for the beautiful holiday greeting. Love how she blasts the UN for allowing that whack job to speak yesterday
any Yom Kippur lecture yet from obama?
Please don't let her start speaking at a podium with a "Seal of the Office of The Candidate For The President of United States of America."
Please, tell her not to do that.
Nope..still waiting...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz..he’s too busy praying to Mecca or whatever he prays to
What’s over the top about giving a holiday greeting from her facebook page
No, it isn't.
Perfect. After yesterday’s anti-Israel speeches by Obama, Gadhafi, and Ahmadinejad at the UN, her timing is exquisite.
“A speech was given at the United Nations General Assembly yesterday that was full of hateful anti-Semitic rhetoric.”
Hmmmmm. I wonder which one of the three characters above she was referring to. Could be any of the three...or all of them.
because that sounds like something dignitaries and people who hold public offices do as a formality and, the last I checked, she held no office.
She’s a private citizen, if she wants to give a holiday greeting on her facebook page, she has every right to do so. So what if dignitaries do it, I’d rather read a statement from her then hear Obama throw Israel under the bus
are republicans going to support her as a member of their party or keep trashing her
Nah, the way the GOP is now, of course not. The GOP is not the same GOP when Reagan was President. The GOP has changed and not for the better. Not clumping them all together, there are some good members of the GOP will still stand on principal, but the majority of them, have abandoned Reagan Conservatism
No it is not over the top. It is a gracious acknowledgement of an important holiday for the Jewish people.
How come nobody started a thread when I said "Happy Chanukah" to my friend Lew?
Silence from Hussein Obama on this Jewish Holiday.
Except titular head of the Republican party, unlike Romney.
You got a problem Pal?
I'm one of those who observes these holidays (among others) and I found her message quite touching.

Who forced you to click on the thread? Palin’s “irrelevant,” remember? She’s a private citizen now. So why worry about what she says?
If youd like to be on or off, please FR mail me.
..................
I'm sorry. Mods, can you append the word "Caucus" to the title of this thread. Apparently it's sacred.
My dog is barking, She senses Romeybots
Well, not exactly silence. But at least he didn't talk about ovens.
ML/NJ
Because you're not a former Governor & vice-presidential candidate with tons of grassroots support. ROFL
Thank you Madame President
Please. If you don't like a thread, don't click on it and respond to it.
Why didn’t YOU start a thread? There is always a Chanukah thread at FR. There has been one every year since 1998. There are usually threads for the High Holy Days as well. We have a LOT of Jewish Freepers and we love and respect them. You have a problem with that?
I appreciate her thoughts! Its good with me.
Yeah?! I'll see you at recess! And don't even think of telling the teacher!
If your intent was to equate Sarah’s speech with Obama’s behaviour, I must object. Sarah is no Obama.

It's been fun visiting your planet. Peaceout!
The vast majority will be convinced that she, and she alone, is the only potential candidate for the Presidency who can rekindle the Reagan flame and go on to rout Obama in 2012.
The others, ie, the minority, are sorrowfully hopeless.
...strong language-free ping to my conservative friend, Rintense
The last time I checked, this was a marketplace of ideas. I opined that it's somewhat presumptuous for a former somebody and hopeful future somebody to sound off as though she were a head of state. So please dispense with the feigned moral high ground. If you start a thread, you open it to all.
The reason my response rankled you is because this is cult of personality, too, and that's why it's impossible to question its perfection without being seen as a threat of some kind, a "romneybot," a troll, or some other messenger of Satan.
i was hoping Sarah would do some reforming of the RNC...and maybe clarify it a little....right now the party just seems to be jumping around trying to latch onto whatever they think is popular. I emailed them about upholding the constitution and attracting conservative minorities but no reply.
Shana Tova. La shanah tova tikatevu!shalom b'SHEM Yah'shua HaMashiachHappy New Year. May your name be inscribed for a good year!
“How come nobody started a thread when I said “Happy Chanukah” to my friend Lew?”
Maybe because you don’t have 600,000 friends who visit your FaceBook page to lift and quote your comments? Just a guess....
It’s not over the top. It’s respectful and probably heart-felt.
Are you sure you are not standing at a podium that says, “Office of the Person Who Gets to Decide If Sarah Palin May Send Jewish Holiday Greetings”?
The same to you and your family
It is a gracious acknowledgement of an important holiday for the Jewish people.Governor Palin has a long history of supporting Israel.
From www.nysun.com (9/26/08):
PALIN: 'ONLY FLAG IN MY OFFICE' IS ISRAELIPresident Peres of Israel yesterday met for the first time with Governor Palin and with Senator McCain, who called the veteran Israeli statesman "my old friend." The warm handshake and exchange of broad smiles occurred during an international gathering known as the Clinton Global Initiative, hosted by President Clinton.
"I wanted to meet you for many years," Ms. Palin told Mr. Peres, according to an aide to the president.
"The only flag at my office is an Israeli flag," she was quoted as saying, "and I want you to know and I want Israelis to know that I am a friend."
No. What would have been over the top—in the wrong direction—would have been if she’d gushed about Ramadan.
Thank you for posting.
And unlike that rat in the White House, she doesn’t attack Israel so I know she means it.
Mrs Sarah Palin— Thank you for kind wishes. You even have an Old Testament name
To post 33 - Get over yourself, you’re an ass.
And apparently you're a jackass...
So which one are you?
This particular poster has a problem with Sarah....
Give her credit for having more sense than that.
Make that more than 898,000.
Mark Levin just read Sarah’s message for Best Wishes for the Jewish High Holidays on his national radio talk show
If there is an election in 2012.
Be afraid. Be very afraid.
