STATES' RIGHTS!
www.vetscor.org ^ | 9/17/2009 | A Navy Vet

Posted on 09/24/2009 2:05:11 PM PDT by A Navy Vet

We are all concerned with the direction our Country is heading under the Obamba, Reid, Pelosi socialist triad.

You travel long distances to join a demonstration on the Capitol steps. You join local protests on the same day. The main-stream media doesn't report your numbers accurately. Obama and crew are still working to forward their socialist agenda. They did not hear you! I say again, DC did not hear you!

While your efforts may have made a few Congress-critters re-think their position, many don't think it will be enough. If it is, then bless all you Patriots.

However, if it is not enough to stop the Fedgov leviathan, than what is?

My suggestion is STATES' RIGHTS. What do I mean by that?

NULLIFICATION. That means some Governor of some state should just say NO!

NO to unreasonable Fedgov mandates; NO to the destruction of individual and property rights; NO to dismantling of our free enterprise system; NO to redistribution of wealth, NO to anything that was not within the intent of the Founding Fathers. THE guys who founded THE most productive system the World has ever seen.

Think about the ramifications. What could DC possibly due other than cut off federal funds, which some states could survive. Would Obambi order the military into States that refuse to follow unConstitutional mandates?

Really? He doesn't have the "stuff" nor any knowledge of how to fight such a war. I firmly believe that we would be the next Honduras, and the military would kick his as out before they would kill their own kin.

SO, you want to make a point against this intrusive federal government? Then make your own state Governors aware of your positions and ORDER them to defend their States' Rights.

Nullification: The states have a “nuclear option,” too

http://www.tenthamendmentcenter.com/2009/09/13/nullification-the-states-have-a-nuclear-option-too/

Already, state legislators from Arizona to Florida to Georgia have proposed measures to nullify unconstitutional aspects of any federal health care law. Which, in all likelihood, would mean pretty much the entirety of H.R. 3200. But even more intriguing is the precedent a nullification fight would set and the confidence it would build for those in the liberty movement.

I really think the “State rights” issue should be front and center of all GOP campaigns from State Representative all the way to the Presidency. This is something that people will easily embrace.

I agree, I think we’ve been pffy footing around with these people long enough.

I think Texas is just the state to lead on this issue.

“Obamba, Reid, Pelosi socialist triad.”

I like that. My new tagline.

"What could DC possibly due other than cut off federal funds, which some states could survive."

What if a number of States just refused to send in their tax receipts to the IRS? What would happen? Federal lawsuits against States? Good luck on that, Say the USSC were to rule in favor of the Feds and the States still refused? What then?

Federal military action? Ain't gonna happen as I stated above. So then what? Without that military option what could DC actually do? I say nothing. They will slink back into their holes (upscale offices) and talk and talk and talk themselves to death, while pretending they are still relevant. GOOD THING. The less they can do, the less harm they can do.

It will take ONE, I say again ONE, Governor to tell DC to pound sand.

Got suggestion? Think States' Rights. Think the 9th (much overlooked) and the 10th Amendments to our Constitution. Look at your Governor.

Yes, you get it. This is our last best hope to restore Constitutional principles before the next Revolution starts.

NULLIFICATION!

STATES' RIGHTS ABOVE ALL! The US Constitution guarantees all the People, and their States freedom from oppression. You only have to read what the Founding Fathers wrote in their debates, essays, and publications. How anyone, including the USSC could think otherwise is a mystery to this simple mind.

Human liberty is a god-given right, or if you don't believe in a god, it is a human right to be free of oppression.

Sorry for being dense, but what does “10” mean? I know what the 10th Amendment says. What is your point?

Not sure you've been reading all, but most of those States are just passing "resolutions" to re-affirm their State rights. Resolutions have NO lawful bearing in State statutes nor State constitution law. The Governor of a given State signs legislation (not Resolutions) into law.

That said, it's a great start, and some have actually had their Governor sign the resolution. What we need is actual legislation/law forbidding the State to accept Fedgov funds that dictate an unreasonable mandate.

They could stop the Interstate transmission of electricity.

They could stop the Interstate delivery of Water.

The federal Government has claimed jurisdiction over ALL water in the Continental US.

They could Blockade the Interstate Highways.

There would in effect Be “Free America” and “Occupied America”.

Like you said, It might work on some States, But perhaps not all States.

It's pretty straightforward, NV. The 10 does refer to the 10th Amendment. I believe Calhoun's arguments in favor of nullification were /are valid -- that the Federal gov't is a creation of the several states and, as such, the States have the right to set bounds on the Federal government's actions. The 10th Amendment is supposed to be the first line of defense in this regard but the States have allowed it to lie neglected. The tee shirt image is just a fun way of indicating support for these notions.
