Are there 15 Truly honest politicians?
9/2/09 | 2nd Amendment

Posted on 09/02/2009 7:01:58 AM PDT by 2nd Amendment

My friend and I were having a discussion. He says there are no more than 15 truly honest, conservative, moral, politicians now serving in the House and Senate. I disagreed with him and said there are many good public servants serving their country. Can you Freepers help me out and give me some names of good politicians that we should not oust in 2010?

Politics by it’s nature converts people into substandard humans. If someone was honest at the outset of their political life, that honesty is most often sacrificed for success.

Short answer, nope, I don’t think there are 15 honest ones out of 535, conservative or liberal.

Better way to look at it is What is the Half Life of Honesty in a Politician.

Most of them come into office honest. After 10 years half of them are totally corrupt. After 20 years 99% are totally corrupt.

That this has to be thought about to find “15” bodes ill for our country.Once they step into the beltway the system corrupts all of them to a degree.

I always got a kick out of how Lot bargained with God.

If there are 20 good people will you spare the town?

Yes.

How about 10?

Ok

What about 1 that at least takes Saturday off?

Now cut that out!

Your friend was optimistic. If you were right, I suspect you wouldn’t be having trouble coming up with names. In your heart, you know that 99% are corrupt as hell.

Senator Jeff Sessions.....I’m on the fence with Richard shelby. He votes like I want, but I believe early in his career he took some pork projects I had a problem with.

Same with Satan betting with God over Job.

That is why term limits on the whole corrupt lot should be in the top 3 list of Constitutional Amendments. You are absolutely correct. We send them there a fundamentally honest public servant and then over time the change. Limit the damage they can do.
