Should A Conservative Leader Step Forward?
8/24/09 | vgv0a3

With President Obama falling in the polls, more will try and anoint a conservative leader to carry a mantle.

Is that really a good idea?

It seems that more is being done without a leader. President Obama cannot attack Bush, Chenay, Gingrich, Delay, Palin. They tried it with Rush without any success.

As discussed in Rule for Radicals # 11: Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it. Don’t try to attack abstract corporations or bureaucracies. Identify a responsible individual. Ignore attempts to shift or spread the blame.

He needs and enemy and cannot find one without an individual leader.

TOPICS: Chit/Chat; Miscellaneous
KEYWORDS: conservative; leader
I have seen people try already with Sanford, Jindle and Pawlenty. I find it hard to support any of the GOP establishment canidates. They were part of the problem regarding the conservative movement under Bush. How have they suddenly come to see the light? They just seem like opportunist and will say anything to be placed as a leader of this ground swell.

With that in mind, how do we recognize a leader?

Is it someone like Palin that has distanced herself from the GOP establishment?

Is it a Congressional Republican that comes from a Conservative district?

They’re going to go after Glenn Beck now, harder than ever before.

My prayers are with him.

The media has already cut the legs off any conservative who i legit and tries to be the anti-Obama. They’ve made Palin out to be a caricature and a dunce, they overblew Sanford’s scandal, all of the crap with Rush, ect. We need someone smooth and likeable like Reagan was. I truly thought Sanford was gonna be the guy.

Is it a good idea for her to stay out of the spotlight while Obama destroys himself without a foe? I believe so.

I like her strategy so far. She makes her point (death panels) and gets out of the way while others beat each other up over the topic.

Who ever thought that face book would allow someone to build a political platform. I think it is working for her.

No Conservative wants to step up to the plate and take that kind of a beating for nothing!

You will only see that kind of Conservative force the closer it gets to the next national election. Only when there is something in it, personally, for the guy taking the heat, will ANYONE bother. That's why I really respect Palin for picking up the standard at this point.... I hope she stands up to it.

“They’ve made Palin out to be a caricature and a dunce..”

#####

So what.

They are going to do that with ANY strong conservative candidate, no matter how “smooth and likable” they are.

They did it to Reagan.

In any case, Sarah Palin is plenty smooth, and immensely likable.

Has it worked?

It's working very well.

"When your enemy is destroying himself, don't interfere."

This is fun to watch, but at the same time it's dangerous. These types of enemies came from a "tear it all down" movement, and that's what they are doing. If it looks like they'll be replaced, they are likely to go nuclear, in some fashion or other.

Obama seems to cutting off his own legs with his actions.

Regan was always portrayed as a caricature (SNL, NYTimes, New mags). It was his ability to communicate with the masses. The person we need will need to be able to speak directly to the public and energize them without the media.

I agree. I just am concerned that another McCain will be pushed out by the GOP and with the rush up to election a true conservative will be harder to find.

Most politicians are scumbags. It doesn’t really matter what party affiliation one may have, this is about power. I do know of one governor whom they have tried to paint as a scumbag time after time, and have failed time after time. I am going to support her and no-one else, because that is what our government needs more than anything else, a person who is clearly not a scumbag.

It’s a simple test for America’s people really. Can you, at the moment you stand at the edge of the cliff upon which you will die, see clearly who is here to help you and who is here to hurt you. If we can’t, then we will fail, and there will likely be no second chance.

Smooth isn’t the answer. Simple honesty and simple decency is the answer. I’m supporting Sarah Palin.

Expect the MSM to interfere again. They were so successful in manipulating public opinion before, they will of course make every effort to repeat their success. Conservatives need to stay focused and tune out the MSM

Unfortunately we can only choose our leaders from among them who first choose themselves.

You betcha it's Sarah Palin - the new leader for Conservative Americans.

Sarah is leading the fight against the socialists while the DC beltway wussys just nod their head and go to their dinner parties.

And that is exactly why all donations to the RNC should be withheld until Steele commits to closing all GOP primary elections so that only registered republicans can vote in them.

I like that idea. That is action, not just protesting for the sake of being heard.

When your enemies are fighting among themselves, step back and watch them destroy each other.
