Barbarella" is getting a new lease on life courtesy of producer Dino De Laurentiis.
The veteran Italian filmmaker, who turns 90 on Saturday, is developing a remake of his original 1968 sci-fi movie, which immortalized Jane Fonda as a sex symbol.
Australian filmmaker Robert Luketic ("The Ugly Truth") is attached to direct from a screenplay to be written by Joe Gazzam.
Robert Rodriguez was previously involved with the project, when it was set up at Universal in May 2007, with an eye to making it a vehicle for his girlfriend Rose McGowan. But the studio and director reportedly could not agree on where to shoot. After the parting of ways, a new direction for "Barbarella" was sought.

I want to be casted in the role of "Duran Duran". Rumors has it that Sienna Miller will be tapped for the lead role, although I think it should go to Scarlet Johanson.

High point of Jane's career.

Will someone please sedate Mr. Rodriguez and get him away from Rose McGowan? She’s his choice for the lead in two movies now - I just read he wants to remake “Red Sonia” with her as the lead. Good heaven, save me.

She may be a commie bitch, but she was very very attractive in that movie. Doesn’t excuse what she did, but the truth is she was very pretty in that movie.

Another low budget Scifi flick. First one was strange indeed.

ScarJo is actually perfect for this role. All boobs, no brains, pretty much like Fonda in her day. And now.
Duran Duran... Joe Montenga, hands down:

Pygar: Eric Dane or Ryan Reynolds
Dildano: Luke Wilson
The Great Tyrant: Angelina Jolie, hands down
Professor Ping: Gene Wilder

Quit thinkin’ with your *you know what*...LOL!
Pretty IS as pretty DOES. You can be gorgeous outside and rotten inside. And she is. I don’t care if she ‘found Jesus.’ Oh, wait, that was about ten years ago when Ted Turner (also a kookburger) was dumpin’ her sorry arse, LOL!
I wish nothing but ill upon this commie-lovin’ she-devil.
Now, back to the topic at hand... :)

Well, it’s been a long time since I had to p*ss standing up, but I think I could still muster the needed bladder pressure in her case, LOL!

And Jane was indeed curvy as Barbarella. I love the movie. Pure 60s camp at its best. Even the soundtrack was good. I even named a cat Pygar.

Perfect for a Jane Fonda role: Both have big boobs and both are dedicated marxist.

SOmething like that. The fabled “red haired she-devil with a sword” is somewhat less intimidating when you can boot her 40 yards.

He obviously mis-spelled the word on purpose so as not to swear on FR. I’m sure he meant a #2, and the answer to that is a resounding YES!

You’ve got to be kidding me? A remake of Barbarella? Does no one in the movie industry have imagination any more?
To: RikaStrom
In fact no. There are a bunch of remakes on the way for 2010 and 2011. In fact, I have seen two movies on Cinemax; “Mirrors” and “Shutter” which were American remakes of a Korean and Thai movie respectivly.

Ug. Even “The Ring” was a remake. I am hoping for good things from “District 9”.
The folks went and saw “Orphan” but I am tired of being grossed out instead of scared. Although they did indicate that there were some previews that looked interesting. “Shutter Island” and “Gamers”... and one more that was a deep space horror thing, the name of which escapes me for the moment.

...although I think it should go to Scarlet Johanson. Excellent choice. She's just enough of a ditz to make the role work. And she has all the other essential assets.

I have nothing against Sienna Miller, but Sienna Miller doesn’t have the curves for the role. Kate Beckensale might work, but not Sienna.
