The USA Today coaches poll is the first hint at who the favorites are in college football. Today, the USA Today coaches poll put the usual suspects at the top. Obviously, the USA Today coaches poll had to put Florida at the top, since they are the national champion and Tim Tebow is back.

Yes, indeed it is! This is going to be a fantastic season as always. Sometime next week, I’ll start posting the previews of the six BCS conferences to get everybody ready. As is tradition, I post the SEC’s last just to tease the hell out of some of you. :)

I like Tebow a lot. He’s a great kid from a wonderful family. But if ‘Bama meets him and the Gators in the SEC championship game this year I hope he has the hiccups.
To: SonnyBubba
Do you really think that he can be stopped? The SEC has proven once again that we are the POWERHOUSE. Florida(GO GATORS) stomped the high scoring offense of Oklahoma. LIke I saw in a previous post, let the whining begin....oh did I mention GO GATORS

Does the University of Miami have enough Division II teams on its roster to make it to the Playtex Maxipad Bowl this season?

I suspect we’ll see John Brantley get some considerable playing time at QB this year to get him ready to take the reins next year. Tebow might not wind up being as big of a factor in terms of stats, it’s more about his role as a leader this year.

He’s a great player and person. No, you can’t stop him. All you can do is try to slow him down. I expect the Gators to be in the BCS championship game again.
To: fso301
I thought the University of Miami was a Division II team.

I expect them there again as well, but who will fill Harvin’s shoes, he was like 40-45% of our offense. Looks like Tebow is going to run alot this year!

I thought the University of Miami was a Division II team. They sure play like it but I saw an ESPN interview with a player who said they intend to make it to a bowl this season. I assumed since their goal was to make it to a bowl that they must be Division I as I believe Division II has a playoff system.
Perhaps what he meant was that by switching to buses from riding chartered airplanes to games, that they would save enough money to afford tickets for the whole team to go and watch a bowl game and get a feeling for what it's like.

It’s all falling apart for Randy Shannon down there, he’s probably gone at the end of year. They can’t even keep recruits in South Florida anymore.

Maybe after seeing OU blow it again, the pollsters/computers will see things a little different this time around.

I can’t wait for November of 2010 when the Utes roll into South Bend to take down the Irish. I assume most of America’s college football interests will be donning red for that one?

Couldn’t agree with you more. Perhaps the only thing the BCS does right is that they don’t have rankings of their own until roughly halfway through the season.

True. That's why I don't give my FWIW Top Ten premiere ranking until after the season starts. Preseason rankings distort the rankings during the regular season.
