CA Anti-Virus is free to Roadrunner subscribers, but this has become a problem with a lot of major anti-virus programs lately.

If it identifying Vista as malware then perhaps it is right.

If it identifying Vista as malware then perhaps it is right. Don't forget BloatWare, SpyWare (or at least NoseyWare). And my favorite, CrapWare.

I dropped CA security suite last year when its parental controls firewall blocked Freerepublic because it classifed the site as hate and YET, it allowed democratic underground.
It also blocked Ann Coulter’s web page as “adult.”

Computer Associates is the 2nd biggest software firm in the USA and perhaps the world, howbeit its following hard in the footsteps of Microsoft in building crapware & bloatware.

I have CA Anti-Virus and I spent a morning last week dealing with this mess. One of it's “updates” sent out a false positive causing MS files to pop up as viruses. I was one of the lucky ones and only had 3 files sent to quarantine. I followed the steps one forum poster gave by disabling the software, unchecking the “clean” boxes and “real-time” box. Basically, leaving my computer vulnerable. I restored the 3 quarantined MS files. Later, CA sent out a new update which resolved this issue. I've had no problem since. I did go back and recheck the boxes that I had unchecked.

You are better off using AVG free or Anti-vir (free version) than any of the big names.

AVG’s done it before too. Any of them can get a false positive, you’re best off setting it to warn ONLY and decide from there what to do.

avira does very well. I think commodo is too fussy but it is very effective.
