Inside Neverland: The stunning photographs of Michael Jackson's empty fantasy

By MAIL FOREIGN SERVICE 03rd July 2009

Gone is the zoo with its elephants, tigers and giraffe. The exotic snakes have long since slithered away, and the amusement rides have been dismantled.

The gates to Michael Jackson's fabled Neverland Ranch swung open yesterday to reveal a shell of the fantasy the boy-man had created when he was the King of Pop. [Pics in URL]

I love UK English: See the caption under one of the pictures: a “dodgem car”. Cool. Here in the US we call them bumper cars. It’s a beautiful estate, though.

The dark wood everywhere is depressing. The property’s trees, landscaping and pond are nice.

Beautiful indeed; wonderful setting, and a lovely estate. Hard to imagine (but not too hard) that dinning table outside was never used for a joyful family gathering.

I grew up in Cleveland Ohio (many years ago) and they were always called Dodgems when we went to the amusement park. Even in the U.S. I guess the name is a regional thing.

Gorgeous. The kitchen is so incredible I could sob. Larry King took a tour of the house and grounds last night and it just takes your breath away.

He spent his money foolishly...Beautiful Property no doubt about it...He should of turned it into a Bed and Breakfast, he could of made Neverland a place that would generate income for him and his fmaily for a lifetime....

He spent his money like a 10 yr old....His demise was surounding himself around vultures and bloodsuckers....

What kind of wood is on the floor of the bedroom? It looks soft.. or is it just dinged or reclaimed?

The KING OF PEDOPHILES created a trap to pull in children. It’s like some weird trailer trash Jerry Springer place - but creepier. I’m amazed people aren’t ashamed to be seen there.

An adult who aspires to spend his time hanging out with othjer peoples’ little children is, at best, maladjusted. At worst, well....

Michael Jackson did not seem capable of functioning in the adult world. Creating Neverland, as well as his mannerisms, behavior and speech patterns indicated to me that he was very stunted in his development as a human being.

Let's put up some pics of pimp mobiles too... Insecure poor people - who have never had anything - can ooo and ahhh those too. The KING OF PEDOPHILES's house is a testament to his insecurity and his desire to impress losers ( losers with young sons ). It's hard to look at it without laughing. Who on earth would feel they had to try that hard? Creepy.

Jackson lived in an elegant house but he's not an elegant person.

Or are you one of those people who think someday OJ will find the real killer?

There is truly no accounting for taste.

Why does a forty-something black man who modified his face surgically to look like a white woman decorate his house like a dark and drafty English manor? The boy-star-turned-Dianna-Ross fancied himself a country squire?

his demise also had alot to with being a bloodsucker and a vulture himself.

And when he got called on his behavior he pretended to be an innocent boy/soul that would never hurt a fly.

Not only did he pay of his earlier victims, but CA had to pass a law as a result to try to prevent that sort of thing in the future.

I can’t help but notice his fixation with children in all of the statues.

Wow, I like his design tastes, until you start getting to the accoutrements. The bronze children statues are tacky, as is the train station.

Like the inside of the poolhouse:

I could be very happy living in a space like that.

what a gorgeous residence & buildings.. I am sure the huge acreage is also beautiful. It would be nice to somehow see this kept for children, happiness & the things that I really think MJ wanted in his heart. A museum etc? I cant understand why he cannot be buried there. Most places permit with time & appps. You just stay on ice for the time being.

Well, so much potential, so much talent and so many heartbreaks on the life’s path
