This is an opportunity in disguise (if anybody is willing to put in the effort to capitalize on it) - just convince these Obama voters who were too feeble-minded to get their act together with the DTV switch that it's Obama's fault that they can't get their TV shows anymore.

"Can't get TV anymore? Blame Obama" and "Obama broke your TV" bumper stickers (or even billboards, for that matter) might just raise Obama's "negatives" by a point or three...

That is, assuming that a substantial number of these folks can actually read...

How many AmeriCorps workers does it take to get a converter box to work?

On the June 13 CBS Evening News (the 1st time I've watched in years) there was story on the people left with static on there screens. One part featured some AmeriCorps workers going to an old lady's house to get her converter box working. There were THREE (3) AmeriCorps workers - and they probably needed help from the CBS News cameraman and sound man to get the job done.

I get different stations depending on where I put my antenna (a small indoor RCA unit with AMP).

So I used the “scan add” feature over a couple times where it keeps the channels it found and adds any new ones to the inventory, so now it says I have 30.

But I can never pick all of them up without moving the antenna. And sadly, some of my fairly local network stations barely come in at all before they start to break up.

But the Spanish language cooking channel on 47.2 comes in great!

Ch 4 Boston jumps to the analog “nightlight” (a loop of instructions to those who haven’t updated yet)

Nearly 700,000 calls were received by a federal hot line this week from people confused about the nationwide switch from analog to digital TV broadcasts that occurred Friday.

And this is from the right side of the bell curve of the stupid that could actually figure out who to call.....

I heard on radio this a.m., FCC is sending out legions of customer service reps to the “communities” to help people sort this out, I guess to the senior centers, maybe churches ... I don’t know.

What a mess. Well, this is how govt does things... sneak preview.

“. . . FCC commissioners said that “search and rescue” efforts will continue to find and help individuals who have been left behind in this transition. FCC volunteers along with volunteers from other groups, such as AmeriCorps, are on the ground manning walk-in centers where people still needing help can go to get help. These folks are also going to door-to-door in at-risk communities to make sure that people are able to get over-the-air TV.”
