Megan has blown apart Hollywood's casting couch culture - insisting several leading film directors have tried to bed her since she found fame.

The Transformers beauty has attended a number meetings with top moviemakers to discuss potential roles.

But she was shocked when they made moves on her during the interviews - and immediately turned them down.

I first read an interview with her after Transformers was released. I don’t remember what it was in (it may have been online) but even then she came off as extremely self-centered. This is absolutely no different.

The truth of the matter is that studios don’t stand for that nonsense, because the fixation is for money. Good looks only matter to the bottom line, and they are very transitory. Pretty actresses are a dime a dozen, and have the career life of a fruit fly.

Especially since the studios were bought by non-entertainment corporations, the emphasis has been on formulaic “product”. There is a continual push to dispense with actors altogether, but they don’t have the technology to make ordinary movies with CGI.

As things are right now, the alternative is to use as few actors as possible, to minimize risk, and to do fewer movies with bigger budgets hoping for bigger box office. Parallel to this is to try and use computers to generate scripts that offend nobody.

Competition from independents is blocked at the distribution level, with the attitude that if good films are not seen, the public will watch the crap films.

It’s all about the money.
