David Brenner, manager of Prairie Home Cemetery, reported Tuesday that 39 flags were taken from the graves of military veterans.
Brenner said thefts seldom occur at the Waukesha cemetery, but he decided to report the incident to police.

This is truly sad. My husband and I just put flags on veteran graves at our local cemetery this past Memorial Day. One of the churches in that area should step up and volunteer to replace them—it would be a good experience for the youth groups.
Seriously, though, this is disgusting, and I am acutely embarrassed that it happened in my state...

I sincerely hope you didn't think my "this is disgusting" comment referred to any grammatical error; I was referring to the flag-stealing story. As a military mom, I find such an act beneath contempt.
Oh my gosh, not at all. I am a retiree as well as a military mom and I am appalled at this. I hope they find out it WAS squirrels or something so I don’t have to think people are that low.
