No, I haven’t always been allergic to shellfish - but have gone into anaphalactic shock five times since the allergy first surfaced. (About 35 years ago).

I make my tartar sauce from scratch (except for the Mayo.) It is much better than any of the stuff you find in jars at the supermarket.

Advice For The Groom
My son, hear the instruction of your father. —Proverbs 1:8

The custom of a bachelor party before a wedding is often characterized by drunkenness and carousing. The party-hearty attitude seems driven by the belief that the groom will soon be married and have to settle down to a life of domestic boredom.

Not long ago, one of my nephews got married. The best man planned a get-together for Joel, but with a refreshing difference. Those invited were asked to bring some thoughts to share that would help him in this new chapter of life.

When I arrived at the informal breakfast, I found a cheerful spirit of camaraderie. Fathers, uncles, brothers, and friends were animated in lively discussion. The father of the bride and the father of the groom were asked to share their advice on what they had learned in their own Christian marriage. Their thoughts were personal, realistic, and biblical.

The book of Proverbs mirrors this kind of mentoring in facing life’s challenges and rewards. “My son, hear the instruction of your father . . . for [it] will be a graceful ornament on your head” (Prov. 1:8-9).

How God-honoring it would be if more couples began their marriage with an attitude that heeded the wisdom of those who walked the path before them.

Lord, give us ears to hear advice
From loved ones wise and humble,
So when life’s challenges appear
We will not have to stumble. —Sper

He is truly wise who gains his wisdom from the experience of others.

Happy Caturday Everyone

I am still into "project house"..and I read and enjoy even though I am
not posting.
Thanks for the heads up on Rus's appearance. I am so happy I
didn't miss it!... Good job, Rus!
I am cleaning out the garage closet to get more into it..at 3am and
later..when it cools down to 80.
Sleeping when it is 105 seems like a good plan right now..
Working hard is helping me deal with the fact the Congress has just
voted for disaster for us all.
I don't talk about what is happening to this nation because I can't
express my sorrow and horror properly.
May God help us save our country.
Thank you, Rus, Amy, MamaBear and all who are trying to stop this
runaway train heading right at us.

thanks Meg.. Here is the Picasa Folder link for rest of pix from the flying/Man to Man event

Also I mention hiking on Shirley's farm..She had a small ladies brunch last Sunday here are the pix.. . but you can see the home & yard a bit.- she is amazing to essentially alone keep up 100 acres, a home that looks like it is out of House Beautiful & a landscaped yard that seems to be a park...

Here is the link to the Picasa file.  You can look at pix individually & advance manually or set it at slide show.  The default time is 3 seconds but you can adjust that to be quicker or longer.  You can save any pix you wish. These are small internet size. If you should want any to print, let me know & I will send you the BIG PIX with more pixels and higher resolution.

I took a couple hundred pix at each event & picked out the better ones. about 20% go to the trash

Top of the morning to you, Ms Meg. I need to do some cleaning out in my garage and I may try your strategy of working at 4 AM when it’s cooler.

Well, my Democrat Rep voted right on Cap & Tax. Too bad some RINOs didn’t.

Griffith Votes No On Energy Bill
6/26/2009
WASHINGTON – Congressman Parker Griffith released the following statement today regarding his no vote on H.R. 2454, the American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009:

“I voted no because this bill is not in the best interest of North Alabama,” Griffith said. “I am concerned about the negative impact this legislation would have on our economy, the state of Alabama and our nation. We all agree that we need to take measures to make our nation more energy independent, but this bill does that the wrong way and would end up raising rates and imposing unacceptable new taxes on the companies that power the Tennessee Valley. During these economically challenging times, we simply cannot let this happen. Everyone can agree on the long term goals of greener energy, but there is a cheaper and better way to do this without burdening Alabama consumers.

“Under this bill, power companies in Alabama would be required to generate a certain percentage of the electricity they sell from a rigid definition of ‘renewable’ resources included in this legislation. Unfortunately nuclear power and existing hydroelectricity – two resources from which Alabama benefits greatly – are not included in this definition. This legislation would cripple Alabama utilities with high and swift taxes, forcing them to choose between going out of business or passing the cost onto Tennessee Valley consumers.

“We should be focused on creating new jobs and keeping the jobs we have now, but this bill would have the opposite effect and make us less competitive as a region and as a nation. I support the development of renewable energy to make us more energy independent, but unfortunately this bill tries to accomplish these goals in all the wrong ways.”
