OP-ED: Illegal immigrants are heroes
Growing up in this land of "equal opportunity," it is not uncommon to hear about the American dream.
But what is the true American dream, who has achieved it and more importantly who can actually achieve it?
James Turslow Adams coined the phrase "the American dream" in his 1931 novel, The Epic of America. Adams states in his book: "the American Dream is 'that dream of a land in which life should be better and richer and fuller for everyone, with opportunity for each according to ability or achievement.'"
The United States prides itself on the "equal opportunity" it offers to all who seek it. So why then does the government deny those who seek to achieve this dream so avidly?
That boggles my mind.

It's amazing to me how the left claims we are "anti-immigrant" and conveniently skip the ILLEGAL part. But what else is new?
The American Dream is NOT Americans being taxed to death to provide ENDLESS benefits and freebies to illegal aliens.

The US government allows more immigrants per annum than any other country. But they must come here LEGALLY.

According the the US Government.......Add them up.....legal entries are over 2 million every year. The Obama Administration wants MORE legal immigrants and wants to amnesty 12 to 20 million more illegal aliens!

Mexico (122,258), India (46,871), Philippines (38,830), China (33,134) and Vietnam (27,921)
Largest number of people naturalizing lived in:
California (181,684), New York (73,676) and Florida (54,563).

The National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials said the number of Latinos who became Americans in fiscal year 2008 more than doubled over the previous year, to 461,317. I wouldn’t mind so much if we had the same laws Mexico does in regards to illegal aliens.
But since we don’t - kick them all out. They neither deserve to be here nor are they wanted.
I'm tired of jerks, like this, picking on those of us who are working. I'd like to volunteer all those people living on welfare to do all those jobs. It's ridicules that we taxpayers have to pay people to do nothing.
Even the most job-desperate teenager rarely will seek out that employment.
In many states laws prevent teens from working those jobs.

Not about the American dream I wish it was. I have asked. It is about recreating Mexico. Steal a country that works.… for a couple of million Latino People and Call it Mexico and you have the Mexican Dream! I am not wrong ask them!
Yeah, people, sure. Like the “just people” illegal here who had 3 DWIs, never deported, driving without that license that will make them better drivers running a red light in his large nearly new pickup hitting a van full of people. Killed a 4-year old little girl, severely injured her brother and injured her other brother and mother. Initially he was looking at a few years for negligent MV homicide but after an uproar his bond was set at 1 mil. But hey, he’s “sorry” and “distraught” at the accident. His lawyer emphasizes that at every turn. Just people. Just counting the days before we start hearing about the distress this has caused his family.
The American dream is a fine thing, probably on its way to being a thing of the past, but never an excuse for allowing an invasion of law breakers, subsidized laborers and people who use this nation while hating it. The American dream was never about propping up a debt based economy that requires millions upon millions of illegals to be sustained. The illegals debate is not about the humanness of illegal immigrants or their place in the American dream. Sappiness isn’t the answer anymore than illegals are the answer.
They’re people. And they’d still be people, even if they were located on the far side of the border fence.
