A new book by movie producer Jon Peters alleges Hollywood movie mogul Ray Stark sexually molested singer and actress Barbra Streisand at the start of her acting career.
The explosive allegations against Stark, who prior to his death in 2004 was one of the most influential producers in motion picture history, are contained in Peters memoir, tentatively entitled Studio Head, which was purchased by Harper-Collins Publishers in April for a reported $US875,000.
Peters, who turns 64 this year, claims his former wife, actress Lesley Ann Warren, was also molested during infamous Hollywood casting couch sessions and when he became aware of it he, wanted to kill Stark.
According to Peters, who produced films such as Superman Returns and Batman, Stark [was] an ogre of male chauvinistic casting-couch sexual entitlement [and] had molested both Lesley Ann and Barbra when they were auditioning for him, and neither had ever really gotten over it.
According to Peters, Stark first molested Streisand as she prepared for her breakthrough performance in the 1968 movie Funny Girl and again in 1973 when she was cast in The Way We Were.
Four-times divorced, Peters, former hairdresser-turned-studio-boss, has five children, and in the past year was slapped with a sexual harassment suit himself, as well as faced ongoing litigation surrounding a 2006 drunk-driving conviction.
Making accusations against someone who can't defend themselves, cute.
Why didn't she say something BEFORE he died?
Peter’s likes Stark’s sloppy seconds. While making “A Star is Born” Kris Kristofferson told Peters, “If I want any sh!t out of you, I’ll squeeze your head.”
(snarky comment self-deleted...)
In 1968 Babs was 26. I'm not sure "molest" is the appropriate verb.
Rape? Sexual assault?
Sounds like Stark has been punished enough.
1) Superman couldn't wear the Superman suit.
2) Superman couldn't fly.
3) In the third act, Superman should fight with a giant spider.
Kevin was incredulous. When he went back to the Warner Brothers studio, they asked him "is Jon still talking about the giant spider?" He found out that Jon Peters had attended open house at his kid's school and learned that spiders are the fiercest creatures in the animal kingdom.
Tim Burton was hired to direct Superman, and eventually hired his own writers. In the end Superman was never made.
An interesting postscript to this story is that later Kevin went to see the movie Wild Wild West. Jon Peters finally got his giant spider.
Hollyweird, AKA Hedonism Central, where a morality play becomes just a play with the morals stripped out ‘for audience appeal’.I am willing to wager that there is more ass grabs and lewd propositions there than anywhere else on this poor old planet.
There’s an old joke from back when Peters and Dino DiLaurentis were having a pissing contest about whose movie - A STAR IS BORN or Dino’s remake of KING KONG - was the bigger hit. I forget how it goes but the punchline was Peters saying “Yeah, but my gorilla can sing.”
...and these people are telling us how to live our lives?
How can they call consensual sex, “molesting?” These women were adults, weren’t they? If they were children then that’s different. I would think he could have been charged with coercing them, or perhaps he was using emotional blackmail.
That's exactly what I was thinking. It's not molesting. Maybe coercing or emotional blackmail, but grown women can't be molested.
OK, where are the sagging boob pictures?
I was thinking, it is difficult to rape the willing.
Well Babs a socialists, they don't seem to know the difference between "willing and rape" in anything
In his autobiography, Moe Howard said that quite a few of the attractive girls in the Stooges shorts were actually girlfriends of one of the directors. Peter Pan is traditionally played by a woman in the stage production because the guy bankrolling it wanted his girlfriend to be the lead (I think this was before Mary Martin.) In the movie, The Caine Mutiny, Willie Kieth's girlfriend was played by the girlfriend of the producer, and darned near ruined the movie.
LOL..that's what I was thinking. Maybe they can bring Barbara in during terrorist interrogations and threaten that she'll get intimate with them if they don't talk.
Don’t ya love how these Casting Couch Divas in HOMMOWOOD love to lecture us on ethics and morality??
Pray for America
As I remember , Kris had a VERY hard time with her ego on the filming of A STAR IS BORN, (or as the Village Voice called it “ A BORE IS STARRED”. But he was always the gentleman, and just kept it at saying “She’s a perfectionist!”)_
She, however, would respond to his actor’s concerns with things like how he was playing a scene opposite her,and whether she was getting what she needed from him, with “Can you believe he actually thinks that anything he could do would have any effect on me????”
