ABC's Nightline beat CBS' Late Show with David Letterman last week in both Total Viewers and the A25-54 demo — with the late night show back in original episodes. NBC's Tonight Show with Jay Leno was #1.
All three shows declined week-to-week in the demo, with only Nightline down in Total Viewers.

1. I didn’t even know “NightLine” was still on the air.
2. Yet “NightLine” is beating Dave in the ratings, and apparently this has been the case consistently.

Equal parts LAZY and nasty. There are misanthrope comedians who still manage to be good, but they have to work at it. Dave’s been phoning it in roughly since “Miami Vice” went off the air.

Letterman lost me a long time ago when he had Hillary as a guest and had her take a ‘staged’ quiz…
I think that could be debatable. I'm not a fan of either, but Letterman has said some stupendously stupid things the last few years - could be senility starting to set in, or perhaps syphilitic mania I suppose.
I heard Jay last year challenge (I can't remember who the celebutard he was interviewing was) his guest that was railing against imported food, fruits and vegetables and the like because of the "carbon footprint".
And Jay said, "Hey, if we get rid of that banana from Honduras, then the banana picker loses his job, the truckers from Honduras to LA lose their jobs, the warehouse guys lose their jobs, and the stock boy at the grocer loses his job".
I was shocked that Jay would point out the economic damage from this global warming crap.

I used to love Letterman..WHEN I WAS IN COLLEGE..now, I can’t stand seeing his arrogant face...
I think we’re basically on the same page. Leno is probably BOTH (1) not AS lefty as Letterman, and (2) harder working, more aware of the importance of CONTINUING to please a broad audience.
CBS needs to can letterman and promote the Scottish guy. OK, yes I know he’s liberal too, but at least he’s likable and funny. Ol’ gaptooth is neither likable nor funny.
