Why are we being bombarded with all of this Cathholic Hog Wash? This is supposed to be a forum for new news and political discussion. Now we are flooded with all of this Religious what ever. If I wanted to read or be exposed to all of that I would join their Church.

This Jew doesn’t mind at all if our Catholic posters put up things of interest. It is important information from a large number of Americans.

I pressed the [ABUSE] button on you. It is possible to complain about Catholic material without being insulting and abusive, which are against the posting guidelines.
Enjoy Zot-dom.

I think the deal is, Catholic (or Mormon, or etc.) posts go into the Religion forum. You can click or not if it interests you.
I am an evangelical Protestant, but, I do click on Catholic stuff time and again because I like to know what’s going on with them. They are a great big organization, and I do share similar values with them on many issues - pro life, etc.

The US Catholic Church is comprised of over 80 million potential voters and represents the single biggest potentially conservative voting block in the country. If it voted its faith there would be a political shift in this country of “biblical” proportions. Instantaneously, the states of CA, NM, CO, KA, IA, IN, IL, WI, MI, OH, PA, NY, DE, CT, NJ, RI, and MD would become red states. Is that reason enough for you?
To: Nachum
Thank YOU!
And I will say the same thing, if anyone attacks any Jewish information.
This guy needs to SCROLL!
There is no rule that says you have to read every post!
Also, I myself have attacked some of the “Catholic” posts that I thought were silly, but -— I never said that I had the right to tell people what to post -—
Thanks again.

"If I wanted to read or be exposed to all of that I would join their Church."
The simple solution is not to bother to open a thread that you are not interested in. I do not see the point in whining about being "exposed" to such things. This is not DU where they see themselves as victims of forces beyond their control.

Ten years is a long time to just br noticing the religious threads on FR. Maybe you should try posting this to the Religion forum, and find out first hand.
Until then, maybe you can just scroll on past the threads you dislike, or in which you have no interest.
To: SMCC1
This thread needs an anecdote:
One of seven kids. We went to Catholic grade school. Once my mom was studying the saints with my sister. She was about 6-7 at the time. They got to Francis of Assisi. She got a confused look on her face and asked, “Why do they call him a sissy? Is it because he liked animals?”

Who is the Patron Saint of hogwash anyways? I think I have to go with Saint Augustine.
"You thought , if you withdrew from me, you would have more?" But like that younger son, why, you have ended up feeding pigs; why, you have lost all things; why, you have remained in want and left it very late before you grew tired and came back. Now a last realize that what the Father gave you, he could keep from you more safely... O sinful soul, filled with harlotries, turned foul and faded, turned unclean, and still loved liek that! So go back to the beautiful one, in order to return to beauty; go back and speak to him who alone suffices you... -- Sermon 177.9

Debate on church doctrine and or threads on specific religious matters may be best posted in the religion forum, but the defense of religious freedom, especially against those who wish to deprive us of same belongs front and center on FR.
They banned God and prayer and creationism from public schools and public places, but Ill be damned if theyre gonna ban Him or it from FR!
