Have you ever wondered what it would look like if Chicken Little ran a commune? I suspect it would look like this collectivist freak-out of a response by the left-wing blogosphere to an op-ed by actor/martial artist/pitchman Chuck Norris.

Yes, that Chuck Norris...

I think this attitude is a lot more prevalent among us Texans than people realize.

Good for him.

Secession is a last recourse against tyranny, and States must always preserve it as a final option. If the Obama Presidency becomes a totalitarian state and the Constitution is trampled on, then people aren’t going to sit on their hands and say “ah, but the Civil War shows that we can’t secede from the Union”. They will do something about it.

Secession is in America’s blood - and not only from the Revolutionary War. Every immigrant who inculturates to America has seceded from his former Country.

You are correct, for better or worse and whether we don’t say it much, like many of us choose not to on some of the dry serious threads here because we don’t want to be forced to explain something that might be impossible to explain to an outsider, Texans support Texas first.

God, Texas, The United States, in that order.

I’ve got roots in Texas because my great grandfather, who was a CSA veteran in Tennesse (he served under Gen.Bedford Forest and then later in the war, under Gen.Hood), was too proud to kiss Yankee arse during reconstruction and so like many of the South’s best and bravest,Great Gramps did the “GTT” or “Gone To Texas,” (McGregor TX,to be exact) thing going to where Northern oppression was hotly contested and downright dangerous for the Blue Bellies and their persecutions were further curbed as well by the vast expanse of the state (think John Wesley Hardin and the not too fictional Outlaw Josey Wales).
So Texas got a big infusion of live free or die blood following the Great Patriotic War For Southern Independence to add to it’s already thick “don’t mess with Texas” plasma born of the Alamo and Sam Houstan.

Expect another “GTT” invasion of fed-up American patriots before Obama is finished.
Texas may end up being our fortress beach-head in the retaking of America by Americans.

No,God,South Carolina and the United States,in THAT order is more correct.
Texas only went up alone against a wussy country like Mexico while we went up alone against the whole Northern United States.
Granted others, including Texas, joined us later but only we had the cojones to do it alone in the beginning.

Now THATS guts bigger than the state of Texas!

(Just playin’—I think Texas is just alright)

Can you imagine what that’ll do for real estate prices in TX? Obama doesn’t understand, but prices are all about supply and demand. They’ll start off with more wealth moving in than they know what to do with, and those losers and liberals who like being parasites will leave for the weaker 49 states. TX should end up as an economic powerhouse, possibly stronger than the rest of what used to be the United States.

Good post...

I agree...Texas would be my choice as well.

My youngest (adult) child has lived there many years and adopted it..loves it there.

I'm a transplanted Tennessean in Florida....a great state.

But think I might be safer in Texas when the splatter hits the fan someday.

His first act will be to institute the roundhouse kick to the face as the official state execution method.
