How come when I click on Free Republic linked articles, they come up in extremely small windows?

We could do allot of guessing or you could give us more information.

XP? PC? Mac? IE? Firefox? Safari? Opera?

Some browsers have a command that allows resizing of browser windows.

Internet Explorer openes a “new window” in the same size as the last time you closed a “windowed” (not maximized) browser session. So, when you click on a FR article, which opens IE in a new window, it openes it in the same size as the last non-maximized windowed session. Try expanding the window size by positioning the cursor at the edge of the window and dragging it to increase its size. Don’t maximize it. Then shut down ever instance of IE except the one you just increased in size. Then shut down the one that you increased in size. When you click on FR articles next time, the window should be the same size as the increased size.

I don’t have this problem when clicking on links on other sites.

I tried that. I stretched it wide, then closed it, then clicked on a link again and its still small.

Get a bigger monitor or quit using your IPhone to surf the net.

Was every instance of IE closed, including the one with FR open in it, at the the time you closed the newly resized window?

Somewhere in the options section of the browser Tools menu is setting that tells it to remember the size of the closed window and go with it every time a new window is opened. If that’s not set correctly you’ll see the behavior you’re describing. This drove me nuts for several months!
