Edwards accepted his June 27, 2007, honor from the Father's Day/Mother's Day Council exactly eight months before the child was born Feb. 27, 2008, according to a birth certificate obtained by the Charlotte Observer.

Before beginning his Father of the Year acceptance speech, Edwards told an adoring crowd, "I hate to admit it, but I am not the best parent in my family. ..."

Every time I hear about Edwards I am reminded of a lawyer friend of mine that called him “the one” during the early days of the D’s primary. I was baffled at this, and even more baffled when Obama became “the one” in the D’s party.

Many people do associate them with the “Elvis in a UFO with Batboy” tabloids, but that is simply not the case.

National Enquirer was the forerunner of PEOPLE and US magazines, except that the latter does “legitimate” journalism and doesn't pay people to rat out their friends and associates, thus they only “access” to the people they cover is voluntary, as such they do “puff pieces” to maintain access.
