Best Video Camera for YouTube?

Which YouTube ready cameras have you used and how do you like them?

I have a client who wants to record his own video clips and upload them to YouTube. He is on a budget so Flip like cameras would be appropriate.

I am used to dealing with professional studios suing 35MM film, BetaSP, and HD digital video, so the low end consumer market is foreign to me.

I have Googled the subject and have found few comparisons of current products in the lower cost range.

I'm counting on you, fellow Freepers to educate me about the various options this man has to choose from and their comparative qualities.

Thanks!

I haven't had time to research it yet for my daughter-in-law. The only thing I can think of is that you want one that isn't jerky and has image stabilization (IS) if there is such an animal for video cams like there is for certain regular cameras. I've seen newspeople and pros using the high end ones, and they always use a tripod.

If I were in the market for one, I would look into the above and lightweight which could be handheld and still produce quality films. Yes, I would have a tripod for times when it would yield better quality footage, but would still want the option to handhold.

Suggest you go to http://www.dpreview.com/

Look on the home page on the very top left for a white search window. Put video cameras in there, and you will come up with lots of discussions. There are lots of experienced people on that site.

Using that camera to shoot for YouTube would be like driving a Lexus to the land fill.

I think youtube degrades your video so much when you load it up that anything more than a typical digital videocam is folly. However after time quality will eventually improve , someday I suppose all the video sharing sites will be high def or better...
