Not everyone in the fashion business is ecstatic at Michelle Obama's strikingly independent sense of style and fashion.
Michelle Obama is hailed as the black Jackie Kennedy, the first presidential spouse in four decades to be a fashion icon as well as First Lady, a reputation confirmed by her appearance on the cover of Vogue magazine.
Her growing influence was reinforced by the success on Friday night at New York fashion week of the 26-year old Taiwanese-American designer Jason Wu, whose dresses she wore at her husband's inaugural ball and in the Vogue photoshoot.
But behind the scenes fashion industry figures are beginning to suggest that the First Lady's prominence as a style pace setter is something of a double edged sword.

Michelle O is trying to be Jackie O. It goes along with the whole Camelot thing. However, Jackie O actually had style and class. Jackie O knew what worked for her and what did not. Jackie O created fashion statements. Michelle O simply takes a designer dress and puts it on, whether it suits her or not. Usually not, especially that black and red thing she wore election night
In 8 years or so Michelle is going to start looking more and more like Aunt Esther whereas Jackie K was a timeless beauty!
She says Mrs Obama missed a trick by not emulating Mary Todd Lincoln, whose inauguration dress was designed by a former slave named Elizabeth Eckley.
Interesting bit of trivia.
Interesting that Michelle has ignored black designers, and that her “wardrobe organizer” never bothered to tell the top designers who submitted inauguration designs that they were not selected...
OUCH!!!! That’s a big scratch on her...especially the chattering from the Black fashion designers. How delicious is the irony!
Designers are having a tough time coming to grips with the fact that America’s newest fashion icon has an ass five feet wide.

I just went and looked at my reflection (on the porch door, since it’s dark outside) to see if I stand with my feet 24” apart. Nope. Not even five months pregnant.
I wonder if Michelle has a balance problem that requires a wide stance.

Those are both reasonably attractive frocks, especially the long one on the right. However, I don’t see Michelle Obama in either one.

She does look to have a fairly high center of gravity, so maybe you’re on to something, as far as her being unbalanced, lol.
The whole game forums have of insulting or adoring the first lady depending purely on party is an ugly tradition, with FR serving as the mirror image of DU. Michelle is a nice looking woman, but even if she wasn’t, insulting her does not make HER look bad at all, believe me.
