Australian Throws Daughter Off Bridge to Death, Police Say
Fox News ^ | Jan. 29 2009

A father allegedly threw his four-year-old daughter off a bridge in front of the girl's two young brothers and scores of motorists during rush hour in Melbourne today.

Witnesses said Arthur Phillip Freeman, 35, suddenly stopped his family car – which also had his two young sons inside – and, with young Darcey Iris in his arms, walked to the side of the West Gate Bridge, just after 9 a.m.

He then allegedly dropped his young daughter over the railing and into the water, 190 feet below.

Shocked drivers who witnessed the incident – which police say occurred in a matter of seconds – immediately called emergency hotlines as Freeman reportedly got back in the large white family Land Cruiser, and drove away.

Darcey miraculously survived the fall and was pulled from the water by police within 10 minutes and ambulance officers spent the next 50 minutes resuscitating her on the bank on the side of the Yarra River.

She was then airlifted by helicopter to the nearby Royal Children’s Hospital in a critical condition and treated for the next four hours.

Someone should drop his a$$ off the bridge with piano wire tied around his neck but 10 feet short of the bottom.

At age 4, she’s still about a year short of being eligible for an honor killing.

He’s unspeakably Evil. What a pity Australia (like New Zealand) no longer has the gallows for scroats like him.

I do not care if he is mentally deranged: he needs to hang anyway.

True.
Glad I never had to fight for custody or some such that could possibly drive one over the edge.
Tears and prayers for this child.
The one bright spot is that children go directly to heaven, it’s when one grows up they qualify for the alternative.

Yea, I read the whole article and the author wnet to great pains to say that “the father is in a mess psychologically”. Sounds like more political correctness to me, making excuses for the Father. He should have a bullet put in his brain, now. And people buy these excuses......

"The family had been in the midst of a custody battle."

I'd say EVIL.
Boiling over evil, payback evil, vengence is MINE EVIL.

The contrast between good and evil is becoming more stark, day by day.
The tares and the wheat will soon be separated.

Nancy Peloopski sent a note of condolence saying “Thank you for trying to stimulate your economy”

My bad, not really a time for satire.

"But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them." - 2 Tim. 3

Agree.

If he’s deranged enough to have done it once, he’s deranged enough to do it again. The only way to guarantee that he doesn’t, is to execute him.

I agree that this type of crime warrants death and I wish the penalty could be enforced, here.

But at the same time, there are other aspects of the case that disturb me as well.

He’s been described as somebody who was a good father to his children, and the day before this happened he’d had to appear in the Family Court over a custody dispute with his estranged wife. He also drove to that court with his surviving two children just after he did this hideous act. I don’t know the details of the hearing he participated in, or its outcome, but I do know of far too many cases where good fathers have been driven to despair by that court and its tendency to side with mothers over fathers regardless of the circumstances.

Nothing can excuse what this man seems to have done. But we’ve got to fix the system that is causing so much pain to good men.

Your satire worked very well. It’s brutal to say, but Pelosi agrees with child murder.

As much as I would like to join you in prayerful forgiveness, in this case I don't think I can. The father was "involved in a custody case", and "He was pretty down". He was pretty down? That poor man. I wonder if the four year old is feeling pretty down.

The rest of the story, although obviously pumped full of liberal media victim rights bull$hit, didn't make it appear that he was any more upset than any human being faced with the crime he committed. He was shaking and asking the police to care for the kids he allowed to live.

Poor him. /s

I'm sorry. Boys? Get the rope. And the matches.

Too many stories like this these days. Too many stories of family members dying. I don’t know if it’s because the media is reporting them more or because our society has gone down the tubes. Maybe it’s a little of both. Either way, stories like this leave me feeling terrible. I will pray for the surving members. May God heal the psychological scars left those little boys and may God provide peace to the mother.

I'm really sorry, but I gotta say something to that post. Any guy who would throw his kid off a bridge probably SHOULDN'T have any sort of custody. And I don't care if his ex wife has his gonads in a bench grinder. And just to make it fair? The same applies if the situation was reversed and the wife threw the child off the bridge when faced with a custody hearing that might not go her way.

The only victim here was four. And, NO, I don't care to get into a debate about daddy rights. Daddy's rights evaporated on the bridge.

It is surely a little bit of both. With our 24/7 news outlets, they are desperate to report anything, especially if it is salacious or photogenic. Yet the world has changed also. Abortion cheapened human life, especially that of children. Then the marriage “social-legal complex” kicked in to devalue marriage and the virtue of sticking out the difficult times for the children. Add to that the psychological industry decided that evil didn’t exist and if one had uncontrollable anger outbursts, one should just let it out and everyone around him or her should just try to understand. It’s the whatever feels good right now do it mentality.

People have always been under stress. They have always been provoked by circumstances around them. But before now people have been expected to maintain that “stiff upper lip” or find some constructive way to let off steam. These days, the more destructively one acts (i.e., murder, rioting, etc), the more our culture demands everyuone else exercise understanding and compassion.
