Seriously, starlings are a genuine public health menace because of the diseases they carry. They're not so bad as individual birds but when they flock together in large numbers their feces concentrate the bacteria and viruses they carry and it can become a major threat to small children and people with suppressed immune systems, like chemo patients.

Davis, California, a hotbed of nutbag animal rights freaks, poisoned starlings in the last few years when they had several million of them invade the town because the public health threat overwhelmed any considerations for nutbag animal rights fanatics.

If you don't believe me just contact your local public health and ask what they think of starlings.
