Topless coffee shop proposed for small Maine town

A one-time motel in a small central Maine town could soon be offering an eye-opening way to start the day topless coffee shop waitresses. The Vassalboro Planning Board on Tuesday will consider a business permit request for a topless coffee shop on busy Route 3. The one-story building has also been the home to several other business ventures, most recently Mac Daddy's Pub at the Fat Cat Grille, which closed three or four years ago.
Neighbors have mixed opinions. Some say Vassalboro is a rural town and that a topless coffee shop would bring the wrong crowd. But others say they'd like to see a business make a go of it there.
Donald Crabtree of Ellsworth, who has applied for the business permit, told the Kennebec Journal that he didn't want to discuss his plan until after the planning board meets.

Would you like regular or low-fat milk in that???
To: Red Badger
Geez, that'd be a
cold job to work at.
If any FReepers from Maine have seen women from "The County" (that's Aroostook County, the northernmost points in Maine)...they might not be as in favor of this idea. Ask for pictures at your own risk.
The old joke goes "What's the difference between moose, and women from Aroostook? Moose don't wear flannel."

R-Donuts returns! In the early 80’s R-Donuts was operating in Ft. Lauderdale. The had a locals special at lunch. $5.00 for a BIG shrimp sandwich, coffee and a donut. The place was ALWAYS packed, the service great and thanks to very smart management, there was nothing in the least “trashy” allowed! Many eyeballs were left on the plates. Those were the days!

People from away should not make rude jests concerning the reputed lack of outward pulchritude common to the fair sex resident in Maine. We like them that way.
Give you shade in the summer. Keep you warm in winter. In regard to Vassalboro, the most common question to be asked this winter will undoubtedly be:
Is it cold out
... or are you glad to see me?

I dunno, putting up a coffee shop in Maine that has no roof doesn’t sound like a good business decision.
I hear they have pretty cold winters.
Should be nice during the summers, though.

Not all women in Maine offer “wamth in the winta and shade in the summa”. The love of my life was Barbara from Orono. She was bright, athletic trim, very healthy and had the most beautiul long chestnut hair!

Ahhh....but I'm not from away, good sir. Born and raised a native, currently a M-I-E (Mainer in Exile).
I *do* have first hand knowledge (pun intended) of Maine's fairer sex. To quote Tim Sample, "Shade in the summah and wahmth in the wintah" would be an excellent assessment.
I just thought that FReepers not in the know, deserved a warning. California girls, they ain't. lol!

Sure, once the word gets out, people will drive there from other areas.
