Thanks, I enjoyed that.

I love Kristen Chenoweth’s voice, she has an amazing range. She does a song called The Girl in 14G (I think you can find it on youtube, that really highlights her vocal abilities.

Okay. That song, IMO, requires a powerful voice that can build. Her voice is bit to shrill for my taste.

Just like her politics. When she burst on the scene, she billed herself as a conservative Christian, but then the gays took a liking to her. Now, she marches in gay parades, profusely apologizes for promoting a CD on the 700 Club and has dated Aaron Sorkin the mushroom man.

I like some of her singing, like O Holy Night from a movie and some songs from Pushing Daisies, but the radio plays her performances from a Broadway musical called Popular and it’s cringe-inducing. But, I don’t like showtunes.

It’s very nice. Her voice sounds a little too tight however, but maybe it’s the compression of the video, which looks worse than the Flash compression on YouTube (which is already bad).

Sounds like my 11 yr old niece. Good, but still childlike.

Wow! And to think that she was by best friend’s bratty little sister all those years ago…

Yes, it’s very sad when people start to lose their core values once money and fame come along. Too many examples like that to note.

You wouldn't like 90% of her material then, because she's best know for her performances on Broadway. I love her work, myself.

BTW, the musical is "Wicked", and the song is titled "Popular". Set in Oz before the events of the 1939 film, she plays Galinda, the Good Witch of the North. Interestingly, the future Wicked Witch is the main character.

Ditto

For comparison, I'm cruising music newsgroups right now. Hundreds and hundreds of versions of this song. So far, the best voices are Johnny Mathis, Andy Williams, Kate Smith. And surprisingly The Von Trapp Children.

Thanks.

What do you use to browse newsgroups? And, which newsgroups are you looking in?

First, you subscribe to a "premium" news server, like EasyNews ($10 a month). There are others, I happen to use EasyNews. I imagine others here will recommend ones they like to use and tell you what they like about them:

http://easynews.com/

You access the groups via either HTTP (a web based interface, EasyNews has its own) or NNTP (using a newsreader client such as Free Agent or Agent).

The HTTP interface is perfect if all you are going to do is look for binary files (movies, books, music, pictures). But that way does not allow you to post to discussion groups or read posts in discussion groups.

Newsgroups are the best way to get support for software and help for problem solving of all sorts of computer and non computer issues.

Many ISPs have their own access to newsgroups, but they are usually pretty bad. Slow, poor retention, and lots of incomplete posts, smaller selection of groups. If you aren't going to get a premium server, don't bother.

In this case I was browsing

alt.binaries.sounds.mp3.christmas

I know. I realized it after I hit Post. Based on the books by Gregory something or other. Hate the songs.
