With all the talk about Nibiru, 2012 and UFOs it is amazing that many doing the talking have never heard of the Mandaeans, really amazing. It is like knowing all about Jesus and never having heard of the Jews. In fact it is amazing that Jews, Muslims and Christians have hardly heard of these people, considering they, in all likelihood, are the possessors of the religion and heritage that gave birth to all of the three monotheistic religions and they are still around to tell their story even if no one wants to hear it. So unknown is this grouping that even spell-check on Microsoft Word doesnt recognise their name: yet none of this should diminish their incredible importance

Odd little lot, the Mandeans: came to the conclusion that, despite his protestations to the contrary, John the Baptist was the Messiah.
Some of the Iraqi ‘Marsh Arabs’ are Mandeans, though hardly any are left, thanks to Muslim persecution.
if niburu is 4 years away. Shouldn’t we be able to see this planet by now? Mars is like 2 years way from Earth, so Niburu should at least by in our solar system at moment

"Oh Mandaeon ...you came and you gave without takin'..and I need youuuuu
Not if it’s moving at, oh, say 10% of the speed of light. When it arrives you wouldn’t get a long time to admire it before it hit us.
The article then goes on to say completely the opposite: The Mandaeans are polytheists that believe that Jesus was a false prophet and the Torah is an evil abomination the influence of which will ultimately be rid from the Earth.
This guy must have come out of the transporter with some of his neurons mixed up with his hemmorhoids!

Ahh...the basic beliefs, the creation story so many on free republic and myself hold dear, Adam and Eve, noahs ark, the messianic concept-baptims, need i say more.
Much like people of UR they beoieve in One supreme god and underling gods, Abraham remoulded this into monotheism-but the ideas form the basis of Judeo-christianity
lol I wonder if it has a flip up sun dial?
Dan Brown’s next book, summarized.
“Firstly there are about fifty thousand of them left in the world. Most of them lived in Iraq as a cohesive group for over four thousand years until America decided to go in to that country and help create the chaos that now engulfs the place. Ironically Saddam Hussein was a great friend of theirs and protected them. Bizarrely Saddam understood their immense importance while the west clearly didnt.”
Add them to the 700,000 Christians who were forced to leave Iraq since Saddam left and we failed to protect in setting up the new Islamic state there.
I thought Saddam perseucted the “Swamp Arabs”.
Interesting, although if they don’t have believe through faith in Christ, they are worshiping a God who doesn’t provide a solution for perfect Justice. This means they simply are left to the mercy of a God who must be faced with unrighteousness for all eternity. If not perfectly righteous and perfectly just, he is simply unholy.
Not so, with the God of Abraham, who provides the solution in His Plan.
That’s where Obama came from. / sarcasm
And, I hope, where liberals will go when they’re done screwing up this planet.
‘they are worshiping a God who doesnt provide a solution for perfect Justice’
How do you know? have you read all their holy books?

I can’t remember the tune. Had some guys at work give me the nickname.

I see a marginal topic to add and not ping, and say, 'why not?'have hardly heard of these people, considering they, in all likelihood, are the possessors of the religion and heritage that gave birth to all of the three monotheistic religions and they are still aroundAnd those paintings on velvet of dogs playing poker are the fountainhead of 20th century art movements like dadaism and surrealism. |

Here’s something to get your heart rate up.

it is amazing that Jews, Muslims and Christians have hardly heard of these people (Mandaeans), considering they, in all likelihood, are the possessors of the religion and heritage that gave birth to all of the three monotheistic religions...Okay, I'm no expert but the author forgot Zoroastrianism, another monotheistic religion. So there should be Four not Three religions mentioned. And until the Muslim *take over* of Persia was THE dominant religion, starting from 600 BC(1).
(1) Date disputed, 'some' say 100 BC.
Don’t have to. All one has to do is read Scripture then compare and discern statements of those who purport a different god.
In this case, like other ancient pagan religions, the belief system represented as the Mandaeans’ fails to recognize Personal Sovereignty in God and are forced to rely instead on an impersonal chance or fate as final arbiter of which god prevails in the future.
From the story, the Mandaeans consider Abraham evil, as well as the Torah and post Abrahamic prophets, except some queer acceptance of John the Baptist, who recognized Christ as King, but then consider Jesus Christ as a demon or an antiChrist. This reveals volumes in novice theological interpretations.
Considering they reference Abraham and not Abram, they recognize a divine naming of Abram, and then consider it evil. Next, the Judaic relationships between a nation’s prophet and the king were integral for any righteous assignment of authority to the king. A king could not be legitimized until the prophet revealed him, as being told from God Himself. If the prophet was a false prophet, then such an edict would not have legitimate basis in verity.
There are further aspects of the role of a Prophet throughout Scripture. One is that all the OT prophets followed from Moses and never contradicted His Prophecies. Additionally, one cannot simply cherry-pick a later Prophet divorced from previous Prophecy. They may have further clarified prophecy for their particular generations and their circumstances, but the Word of God prevails in Prophecy. The original Prophecy gave covenants which still are unconditional in nature and have not yet been completely fulfilled.
In regards to Justice, our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus is a unique person, both God and Man, who has all the composition of Man, who unlike any other is still perfect to be able to redeem any and all sin of any and all men in order to propitiate a just God, reconcile man to Him, and atone for all sin. Without such a person, man has no provision by which he may make restitution for any unjust thought or behavior to have any relationship with eternal perfection.
Every religion which fails or ignores the atonement of a just God, is forced to find some other mechanism to receive relationship with His righteousness. Some attempt to buy merit from God by performing good works independent of Him, in order to have something of value to offer God. Unfortunately, without complete perfection, a righteous God by accepting any such good work is reduced to receiving gifts from those who are unrighteous and forces an unjust relationship.
FWIW, the presentation of the referenced website is a bit ironic. If the ancient refined gnostic people of the site indeed place supreme recognition in baptism by living running water alone, why are they baptizing in stagnant lichen still ponds? If such a mature culture lasting for over 4000 years, which reveres living running water, why are they still washing their clothes down in a stagnant pond?
Claiming Jesus Christ is a demon, not only fails to acknowledge the baptism of John the Baptist of a man, but confuses the Creator with a created being, and one that is unfaithful.
It’s interesting to note in Christ’s Revelation to John that a demon army will later come up out of the Euphrates River. The posted article and the website share more regarding their possible tribal demon possession and control by regional spiritual authorities than of any true spiritual life springing out of their devotion. Not to worry, though, for every human has an opportunity to receive eternal life through faith in Christ prior to their first death, no matter what their lineage or environment.

Interesting take on the subject-thanks!
I thought you might read this article, Girlene.
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
Not sure these people got that memo.
