For several weeks now a few local radio stations have been playing Christmas music non-stop, and I love hearing the songs celebrating the season -- especially the traditional carols.
How can you help but feel better when you hear Nat King Cole's smooth voice singing "Chestnuts roasting on an open fire..." (The Christmas Song) or Bing Crosby wishing you a White Christmas with every Christmas card he writes. And when Mark Lowry asks Mary if she knew that her baby boy would one day walk on water, it gives me chills. My drive home from work from late November to late December is so much more peaceful and enjoyable as I hear so many cheerful and encouraging songs celebrating the nativity.
There are, however, a few annoying songs that seem to get a lot of play this time of year that prompt me to change the station as soon as they begin. Just the first few notes, before the lyrics even kick in, make me want to hurl, or lash out at the stupidity of the idiot that put the disc in the player.
So as a diversion from the more important issues of the day, please post the titles/artists of the songs of the season that induce the urge to vomit or cause you to change the station when you hear them.
Here are my top most annoying Christmas songs ever: 1. So This Is Christmas (War is over?) by John Lennon 2. Simply Having a Wonderful Christmas Time by Paul McCartney 3. Last Christmas I Gave You My Heart by Wham/George Michael 4. Santa Baby by Madonna
Here are my top most annoying Christmas songs ever:

2. Simply Having a Wonderful Christmas Time by Paul McCartney
3. Last Christmas I Gave You My Heart by Wham/George Michael
4. Santa Baby by Madonna
Christmas Shoes, or whatever that sapfest is called.
And anything by Lennon.
You need to hear Kenny Rogers and Wynona Judd’s version of “Mary Did You Know”!! It will BLOW YOU AWAY!!
1. The Little Drummer Boy...by anyone
2. The 12 days of Christmas...also by anyone.
If I never hear any of these songs again I'd be thrilled.
So This Is Christmas (by Lennon)
Merry Christmas Everybody (by Slade)
Kathy Mattea did a phenomenal job with that one 10 years ago or so.
I've heard it, and it is good. But when Mark Lowry (the guy who wrote it) performs it with Guy Penrod and David Phelps (of the Gaither Vocal Band) joining him on the final verse, there is just NOT a better rendition of that song.
I did an instrumental solo of that for my church last Christmas. Love that song. ;)
Jingle Bell Rock, Feliz Navidad
I especially hate any VARIATION of the 12 Days of Christmas that changes the gifts.
I absolutely despise “Grandma got run over by a Reindeer.”
My favorites are those that are Christ-centered. I really don’t see the significance in anything that is not.
The ones I dislike are those that are totally secular. “Jingle Bell Rock” and “Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer” are the two I dislike the most, and they seem to be played constantly!
The Christmas Shoes. LOL. That is a great song to hear ONE TIME and never again.
Co-worker...within ear shot...
Plays Freddie Fender rendition of Feliz Navidad.
has to be 15+ times each day that song comes on.
grrrrrrr
...bad enough she never speaks English while at work.
Sounds like a turd world country here some days.
A PC crap of a song that also has so many factual errors in that I have to laugh. No snow at Christmas in Africa??? - hello - THEY ARE IN THE SOUTHERN HEMISPHERE or on the equator!
I agree with your top 5 crappiest and would add (and I know I’ll get flamed for this)...anything by The Chipmunks!!! They make me flee the area like I was on fire.
The stupid “Feed the World” song, you know the British “We Are the World” is right up there, too.
Oh no, An ingrown toe
Can wreck your Christmas cheer...
But not as bad
As when your girl
Lets you know that She’s gone queer..
Most of them. By and large Christmas songs are atrocious. Special mention has to go to any Rudolf song except Asylum Street Spankers’ Hoochie Koochie Man version, and the entire body of work from Manheim Steamroller. Haven’t decided yet how much I dislike Trans Siberian Orchestra, on the surface they seem to be a blending of the worst habits of Steamroller and ELO, but a couple of their songs I’ve stumbled on have been strangely addictive.
“Santa Baby” makes me want to stick an icepick into my head.
I have no idea who sings it, but she sounds like Carol Channing, whom I cannot stand.
How could you possibly omit “Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer” from your list??
(Doubly irritating since many radio stations, for reasons I’ve yet to fathom, feel obligated to play it at least twice an hour....)
Jingle Bell Rock. I get that da*m thing in my head and I can’t get rid of it.
(So -— thanks a lot! It’s in my head right now! AAARRRGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!)
You MUST hear Kenny Rogers and Wynona Judd’s version!!! The WORDS are spine tingling!
Add Bruce Springstein “Santa Clause is Coming to Town” to the two Beatles songs. 12 Pains of Christmas is funny. I like the Archie Bunker character.
A coworker had that for her cell phone ring. By the end of the first day we all wanted to choke her with it.
Never heard of him....any link??
worst...
do they know its Christmas time at all
as for the best...
Trans Siberian orchestra comes to mind
I agree that the best carols are the Christ-centered songs. On the other hand, I still enjoy and am tremendously cheered by songs like White Christmas, The Christmas Song, Silver Bells, and a few other "secular" Christmas songs -- especially when performed by the artists that made them classics (Nat King Cole, Bing Crosby, etc.)
Santa Baby is Eartha Kitt.
That song is so bad it gave me cancer...
Barbara Streisand “Jingle Bells”-for that alone, she should be taken out and shot against the nearest wall.
Who doesn’t love Three French Toasts, Two Turtlenecks, and a Beer?
One of my fav Christmas songs: Elvis Presley’s Hava hava hava Bllllluuuuuuueeeee Christmas.
My most annoying song: Grandma got rund over by a raindeer. Joisey!
I tell people that if I hear Feliz Navidad again my head will explode.
I cannot change the radio station fast enough if that song comes on. I absolutely HATE IT!
Off topic, but did you happen to notice the name of the woman who won the Amazing Race?
Starr Spangler.
And some parts for my mustang GT.

Who doesnt love Three French Toasts, Two Turtlenecks, and a Beer?
BOB and Doug Mckenzie from the movie “Strange brew”
love those guys...
Blue Christmas sung by Billy West as Porky Pig.
Elvis. Blue Christmas. That song gets under my skin.
I like “Christmas in Jail” by the Bobs, not to be confused with “Christmas in Prison” by John Prine ;-
But either will do for our dear Milorad. Received from a friend, author anonymous:
To the tune of “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen”
Get packin’, Rod Blagojevich
The state’s in disarray
The Tribune wants you unemployed
At least by Christmas Day.
The TV pundits want your head
Could there be pay to play?
Oh, tidings of comfort and joy
Save Illinois !
Oh, tidings of comfort and joy.
Good riddance Rod Blagojevich
Your Elvis look’s insane,
The Senate’s mad, so’s Lisa’s dad.
You drive us all insane.
Our transit’s broke, the state’s a joke, The
Tollway’s one big pain.
Oh, tidings of comfort and joy
Save Illinois !
Oh, tidings of comfort and joy.
Good luck old Rod Blagojevich
The feds have quite a place.
Fitzgerald’s poked his nose around
And if he has a case,
George Ryan’s moving stuff around
Creating extra space.
Oh, tidings of comfort and joy
Save Illinois !
Oh, tidings of comfort and joy.
All of them...Bah Humbug!
Christmas is great and all, the trees and lights and stuff are nice...but I don’t want to hear ANY Christmas songs while I am shopping. It is the exact same stuff over and over again - it drives me absolutely bonkers, and I have begged managers to turn it off or at least down. My life does not need a soundtrack. I can’t be the only one...
The Bing Crosby/David Bowie duet of Little Drummer Boy isn't half bad.
