Kuroda vs. Harden. First pitch, 9:07 CDT.
Cubs beat the Dodgers, because I'm from the north side of Chicago.
White Sox beat the Rays, because the Sox are from Chicago.
Brewers beat the Phillies, because Milwaukee is Chicago's largest suburb.
Angels beat the Red Sox, because Boston's two World Series wins the last few years should be enough for any century.
Then I wanted the Cubs to face--and beat--the White Sox in an all-Chicago World Series.
Well, in the eight games played so far in the four division series, I am 0-8.
The Cubs--what can I say? Best regular season record in the NL, fantastic record at home--and then they play so LOUSY in the first two games in Wrigley Field. It's mind-boggling. I wonder if all the "100 years" talk puts extra pressure on the players and subconsciously causes them to freeze up in the postseason (like they did last year against Arizona).
I'm posting this live thread a little early--I've got things to do before game time--but I'll be back to watch THE CUBS COME BACK TO LIFE!

I went to college in Chicago when the bleacher seats were only 75 cents. I have suffered and I am still a Cubs fan. All I can say is this isn’t unusual for the Cubs.
Besides I believe in the curse of the Billy Goat!
A bud of mine at the office (also from Chicago N. Side) is a die-hard Cubbies fan.
We had to remove all sharp object from his office after Game 2.
Go CUBBIES !!! Beat Manny
don't blame me for tonight's outcome.
In this postseason my favorite teams are the Red Sox and whoever is playing the Cubs. But seriously I favor the Cubs tonight. They just have to play like they are capable of. The only problem for them is if any of the dodgers next two pitchers go out there and have thier “sandy koufax moment” then of course the Cubs have problems.
The only big game I recall missing because of a wedding was my brother got married in Georgia on the night of the Georgia-Georgia Tech game. After the wedding the men were all listening to a radio. LOL. This was before all games were on cable tv.
I will guess that was in the early 60's?
don't blame me for tonight's outcome.
We won't. But, I think the bride and groom could have been a little more flexible under the circumstances.
geez, some “live thread”. ;’) Everybody’s watching the game?
http://stats.globesports.com/mlb/teamreports.asp?tm=16&report=teamhome
Aaaaargh.
Not a good start to the game.
We’re already behind by 2.
Cheap seats, all day games, and cheap CTA was how I was able to go to hundreds of games as a kid and young adult in the '60s and '70s.
We're waiting for the Cubs to become a "live team."
Well, at least Fontenot just got a hit.
Thanks again for getting the thread up. Dodgers still up 2-0, Bottom 3rd.
2-0, Dodgers coming up in the Bottom on the 4th.
This script is getting tiresome. 3-0.
This announcing team is awful. It’s funny when one of them will make a decent point and all Tony Gwynn will say is “yeah!”. I’m not a fan of the 3 person team, plus they have the 4th guy with Verducci on the field.
I would truly like to root for the Cubs, but I cannot root for anything good to happen to Lou Pinella.
Gwynn is a great guy, but why do I think of the Andy Griffith show when I hear him speak?
The Cubs had the highest scoring offense in the league this year. But in three postseason games last year, the Cubs scored a total of six runs. And in two and two-thirds postseason gamess this year, they have scored five runs. Uuuunnnnnnggghhhh. . . .
Well I can’t explain the Andy Griffith thing. But I do agree that Gwynn is a great guy and a great hitter, maybe the best of my generation. That said, I don’t think he brings anything to broadcast.
Heres where this would rank (I’m south sider):
1. Having kids
2. Getting married
3. A McCain Victory (hopefully)
4. The Cubs getting swept in 3 games after winning 97 games
CAN they get a big hit and put up a crooked number???
Ron darling just finished making a horrible point about Fukudome feeling more comfortable facing a Japanese pitcher when he finally got a hit...off of Kuroda. This is a classic example of a guy saying something just to say something, anything.
The Cubs are hitting .167 (4-24) with runners in scoring position in these three games.
It might be explainable due to the fact that his mother is Japanese, or at least Asian, so he might have some insight there.

Embrace me
That number is getting lower this inning with Lee on 2nd base.
A HIT with a runner in scoring position! Will wonders never cease?
Well I’ll take your word for it on Darling, I’ve not been impressed with what I’ve heard of him in any of the TBS games he’s done this year.
Holy crap. A hit, and a run! This might be the moral victory the Cubs were looking for going into the off-season.
Here we go: Top 9.
1 out.
He’s even handed. In fact, the whole Mets broadcasting team are. If the Mets screw up, they tell it like it is. Compare this to the Yanks team who don’t dare criticize for fear of their jobs. Honestly, Darling knows whereof he speaks.
Fukudome makes in 2 outs.
Broxton just threw 101 MPH?!
Soriano goes 0 for 5 and ends the game. And he looked bad doing it.
We gotta get some guys who can perform under pressure in the postseason.
NO CUBS O!
He was overrated as a Yankee and he is still overrated.
Make it an even 100 years of futility for the Cubbies.
101.
I enjoyed the end of this game by listening to Vin Scully on the radio (internet). Much better than TBS. Cub fans can’t blame this on Bartman (a good man BTW). God bless whoever plays the cubs. LOL!
I do not get why the Cubs could not hit. Gees 6 runs in three games. Ouch.
I see Manny Ramirez is wearing the Piper Palin tiara.
And how does a guy who went to high school in New York still talk like he just got off the boat yesterday?
They’re not that good. But in a short series anything can happen. The divisional series are more pressure=packed than the world series. Ever since the playoff system started in 69 all the players have said that the playoff series are more nerve-racking.
Two words...Joe Torre. Yanks should have never let him go. He wasn't the problem.
So what else is new? Sori couldn’t have had a worse post-season. Why do we put ourselves through this?
