DISCLAIMER: the following is based upon a large birthday party in Boston for my cousin. All of us are Jewish. There were way more than 20 of us there, satisfying the requirement of the central limit theorem for statistical reliability. This took place in Boston, the East Coast capital of lunatic liberalism. All comments and conclusions are mine.

My wife and I were at a large birthday party last night in Boston for a cousin. The talk soon turned to politics. As a conservative Jew I have become accustomed to hearing the worst sort of lies about McCain and Palin, many unrepeatable in public or to children. By the same token, comments from my family about Obama started the season as almost worshipful; Obama was the Chosen One to lead Liberalism from the wilderness while banishing the evil Bushies and their minions. What a surprise last night.
There remained one staunch Obama supporter in the group of us cousins and close friends. She will hear no complaint about Obama and says, in a loud voice, that Bush is Worse than Hitler. (How an educated Jew can say that mystifies me and tells me just how far has fallen Reform Jewery in its education, ability to think, and sense of reality). But the rest of the group was a surprise. "Jennie," a woman who had been at the forefront of the anti-U.S. movement in the late 60s and had angrily taken-down from her parents mantle my picture in Navy uniform, now confided in me that she could never vote for Obama, 'a clear racist.' She, a former fervent anti-gun agitator, astounded me with her telling, in a soft voice so as not be be overheard, that she had become an NRA member, had received her LTC, and packed a Beretta .32 in her purse nowadays. That gave me the opportunity to discuss the relative merits of the AMT Backup .380 I will not visit Boston without and that was snug in my pocket holster at the moment. I was just recovering from that conversation when a much older aunt told me that her Jewish friends in Florida had turned away from Obama, his crazy minister, his Muslim friends, and his saying that Jerusalem had to be "divided" with the homicidal Palestinians. Obama is going to have a very bad Jewish day in Florida on November 5. Then another cousin -- a lawyer and CPA -- and I talked about business, and he went on at some length about how clueless Obama and Biden are about how to help business. He was perplexed at their ignorance and socialist leanings. Two other female cousins said they couldn't support McCain but were writing-in Hillary because they couldn't vote for Obama. Still another cousin said Obama is "an empty suit" and that she will not vote for him. She may stay home but she won't vote for Obama. A cousin in from Berkeley, CA, also said she couldn't support Obama and his crypto anti-Semitism and didn't know who'd she vote for. An elderly cousin said that Obama's refusal to actually lay-out any potential policies left her confused. Finally, another older cousin told me privately that Obama and his advisers just plain scare him.
This is an unscientific but highly interesting sample of Boston Jews who should be Obama's biggest supporters. They aren't.
I suspect the way the sample was selected may not have been random.
As random as any family covering 70 years in age and the entire U.S.
Interesting report, thanks.
I'm glad to hear some of our fellow Israel supporters are joining us. :-}
POST:
Friend of mine called last night from down in South America where he owns a large cattle ranch.
He has a vacation home in Montauk, New York and belongs to several different Jewish groups in that area.
When we discussed politics this staunch Democrat became livid that Palin had been disinvited.
He said that this year he and most of his mainly Democrat friends would be voting for McCain because he could not stomach the thought of of a radical inexperienced candidate like 0bama sitting as POTUS.
BTW: his wife has never voted for a Republican but this year she is supporting McCain Palin.
The poll's scare me but maybe many folks are like him and just doing the Bradley Affect.
Did anybody discuss the “uninviting” of Palin at the anti-Ahmadinejad rally in NYC?
A conservative is a liberal that’s been mugged.
I hope people go to the polls and vote for somebody though, since it appears Obama for America and ACORN are registering people without them knowing it and stealing their identity...ie, you may be on record voting for Obama even if you don’t go to the polls.
I have a few Jewish friends who usually vote democrat. (I could never understand this, but anyways..)
This year each and every one has either indicated that they are backing McCain.
As one friend explained, a Jew voting for B. Hussein Obama is about as smart as a chicken voting for Col. Sanders.
But we could never understand why Jews vote the way they do...Just don't get it????
I wonder how many American Jews looking here on FR are undecided, would be curious....
Did anybody discuss the uninviting of Palin at the anti-Ahmadinejad rally in NYC?
:::::::::::::
There must obviously be a wide range of opinion and strength in the Jewish community at large. They were probably too embarassed to discuss it....I would be if I were a Jew.
Can you tell us whether everyone voted for Kerry and Gore in 2004, and 2000? That would be interesting to know.
I can only hope your observation has validity beyond your family gathering and into the community at large
Someone needs to post a report from Rockville, Md., to see where things are headed.
The poll's scare me but maybe many folks are like him and just doing the Bradley Affect.
The first statement show a well thought out reasoned reason not to vote for nObama and then a tosser to make it sound like a racial thing. The Brady Effect is in no way "like" the gentleman quoted. I do not want to be combative but I want to see if you understand that what your friend said is not related to the BE and should stand alone as a good talking point.
If you see this bumpersticker on Rt. 128, give me a honk and a wave (with an open hand facing out, of course, so I can tell the difference from the other kind...:)

And by the way...thanks for your service!
Mazel Tov! There is hope for my Jewish Brothers and Sisters.
I really get mad when I hear people make the Bush - Hitler compairson. Bush had guts to prevent another Hitler. Getting rid of Hussien freed 75,000,000 Iraqi’s.
Maybe freedom was not right for them but he got rid of a Cancer.
If your ever in DC. Take a few hours and visit the Holocaust Museum. You will learn that had the US and the world delt with Hitler in 1938 the the world would have been a much better place today.
Iran is a festering sore. It needs to be resolved or another Hitler is waiting to destroy the world.
That was a head fake headline. They didn't dis-invite just Palin...they dis-invited all politicians because they were turning it into a circus after Hillary decided not to go.
One other thing, what do you make of this New York Shock Poll: Jews Now Favor McCain in New York, 54-32...

Is your family large enough to turn MA into a McCain win? Please check your closets!!
Who were the other politicians? If even Dov Hivkind (very much a DEM) thought it was disgraceful that Palin was “disinvited,” it obviously looked to him as if this was not just a general response.
It’s not about turning MA red, it’s about turning PA red.
PA has a large presence of Jewish voters and blue collar union voters. Both voting blocs may well become Obama’s achilles’ heels.
“Liberal reform Jew” = “Six-pointed unitarian”.

Hehe, there are a lot of us in the PRM, more than you would think. The problem is (and we all know it) that older people are much more likely to vote.
Those older people up here are all starry-eyed over the likes of Kennedy and Kerry, sad to say. Perhaps when they are gone (Kennedy and Kerry) things might change.
You never know.
fyi
Homesless urinaing in all the bushes at Union Square. Asians who don't know how to drive a car -- and twice ran her into the curb. Taxes for all the dysfunctional afflictions of humanity. Politicins in the Assembly on the take for any nutty cause.
She's had it. Not yet ready for McCain, but in the shivers for anything with a DEMOCRAT label. God bless her willingness to look at things as they are.
Commence Broken Record: Obama’s base is defecting in large numbers, he is the worst candidate for President in the history of this country. He’s so bad it’s hard to ignore and it’s not just us who are noticing.
Obama will lose in a landslide.
Buy them an Island

Wouldn’t work. They’d be at war with the marine life off their coast instead of establishing a fishing and hospitality industry . They’d blame the resulting economic conditions on Israel and the United States and the terrorism would continue due to the support from the same people who finance them now, which sadly includes us. They’d never accept an Island and Gaza is proof that they can not govern themselves and are unable to live anywhere in peace. They continue to support terror and elect terrorists to represent them. When the Palestinians stop indoctrinating their children to hate and kill I might take my earplugs off. Until then, I discount their pathetic ramblings as unworthy of my time or sympathy.
Their status in life is directly attributable to Arab leadership. Until they realise and accept that fact they don’t have much to look forward to except more violence and more isolation. There can never be peace when only one side wishes it.
Obama can lie about not hearing rev. Wright’s anti-American and racist sermons but what did Obama do when his church honored Louis Farrakhan???
Obama didn’t say a thing. In fact, he just kept going to that so-called church.
Any Jewish person that votes for Obama (1) isn’t really Jewish, (2) is looking the other way, or (3) is just plain stupid.
I do have to say that I work in an office that is mostly male and all are voting for McCain. There is one female in the office and she always votes Democrat but doesn't know if she can vote for Obama due to the Reverend Wright fiasco.
Also, there are not half as many Obama bumper stickers compared to Kerry stickers in 04. Many in Massachusetts voted for Hillary and were ticked to see how she was treated IMO.
Or how about that big chunk of ice that broke away in Antarctica a while back?
Good to hear, friend.
I am Jewish as well but my parents were both Reagan Democrats and my grandparents have voted Republican since they voted for Dewey in 1948. Both my parents have Nobama 08 bumper stickers on their cars, and I do as well. Obviously this is very different than your typical American Jewish family.

Dems Threaten Anti-Iran Rally Organizers With IRS Attack if They Let Palin Speak
I remember thinking that it was gracious of the organizers to state that 'no politicians will be invited' so that these people would not feel so pleasured at what they had done.
I hope they organize another rally...
That should read Reagan Republicans, not Reagan Democrats.
(From a non-observant son of a lapsed orthodox Jew.)
Well, its never too late to start observing.
And the Reform Jews are drifting towards actually believing in God rather than the Democrat party only. Honestly, as a Jew who loves attending a Reform Temple.. you may have a bit of a point, but I have found my congregation to be much more giving, caring and respecting than any Unitarian congregation.
The 1999 Reform platform is not 180 degrees from the Pittsburgh platform of its founding but ultimately the Reform movement is on a awesome path of increasing faith and rational discourse. And this in spite of the fact that the URJ and Rabbi Yoffee and the leadership seem to be completely clueless about everything else.
I may have a minority view, but I know that no position in the Temple is barred to me, and I have always been welcomed with open arms even as they scratched their heads about my Patriot Guard pins and such.
My friend who I decided not to have a knockdown drag out about Cindy Sheehan, whom he reveres, loaned me his truck to carry flags to a Soldier's funeral when my car broke down without a second thought. We don't see eye to eye about politics but we do about God. And at Temple thats what matters to me.
“Obama will lose in a landslide.” Oh, I do profoundly hope so. His candidacy is both absurd and dangerous and is indicative of the bankruptcy of the Democrat Party.
For me, this election is a test of whether our country has lost its senses.
Thank you for sharing and happy new year!
Anyone at the party who was carrying was in violation of the law in Mass. My husband hates to even drive through Mass., let alone stop there for even a potty stop!
No handguns allowed. None. Someone here will tell me if I’m wrong.....
What do they know that my New York City jewish friends don’t know?
I will accept the fact that someone will vote for McCain-Palin with an anger or protest motive, but I have to admit, I find it disturbing.
How on earth, apart from sexism, could someone vote for a ticket with Palin on it as an alternative to Clinton? If there was a ruler with Obama at beginning of the ruler and Palin at the 12” mark, Clinton would be at the 2 - 2 1/2” mark.
She is as committed to socialism and Marxism as Obama, but she has simply found out how much of it can be revealed to the electorate and keeps it under wraps as much as possible.
Obama has found this out too, but his trail is far too fresh.
This boggles my mind.
Not true, trimom. I have a license to carry concealed. You can get it in this state, but you have to go through your police chief in your town or city. It is up to them.
I think this is unconstitutional, but that is the way it is, and...I do have a permit.
Works for me. Lets do it ;)
Of course they felt this way before Palin was even selected, but the Palin factor is the icing on the cake.
