He met her in the bar of the swank hotel and invited her to his room. Once there, the woman fixed the drinks and told him to get undressed.
And that, the delegate to the Republican National Convention told police, was the last thing he remembered.
When he awoke, the woman was gone, as was more than $120,000 in money, jewelry and other belongings.
The thief's take stunned cops.
"It's very, very, very rare," Minneapolis Police Sgt. William Palmer said. "I can think of a couple of burglaries where we had that much stolen, but it's the first time I've heard of this kind of deal."
In a statement released today, Gabriel Nathan Schwartz, 29, of Denver, put the figure at much less.
"It's embarrassing to admit that I was a target of a crime. I was drugged and had about $50,000 of personal items stolen, not the inflated number that the media is reporting from an inaccurate police report," he said.
"As a single man, I was flattered by the attention of a beautiful woman who introduced herself to me. I used poor judgment."
Contacted by the Denver Post Monday, Schwartz declined to speak on the record. In the statement released today, Schwartz said he would decline further interview requests.
The haul included a $30,000 watch, a $20,000 ring, a necklace valued at $5,000, earrings priced at $4,000 and a Prada belt valued at $1,000, police said.
Schwartz is a single attorney and a fixture in Colorado Republican politics. He was one of the state's delegates to the convention this month in St. Paul.
Reached by phone at his law office Monday, Schwartz said that because the case still was under investigation, "I think at this point, I don't want to make a comment on it."

“As a single man, I was flattered by the attention of a beautiful woman who introduced herself to me. I used poor judgment.”
** Yeah right.
Stupid is right.
I’m guessing he was a hung-over left-over from the DNC party the previous week. And decided to party on with the repubs.
What a DUmb-A$$.
As one of my female friends would say, “He was thinking with the wrong head”.
He is single, what is he doing with ear rings, necklace, belts. Sounds kinda hokey to me.
I cannot tell who is ‘Guilty’ without pictures.... ;)
This dumbass got what he wanted (in a way), but he didn’t get kissed! Good for her-doing to a lawyer what they have done to us!!
Insurance fraud?
What a dumb-ass.
Sure you have. They just don't admit it is all.
Some cop. It's the first time someone ADMITTED to getting rolled.
Giuliani delegate?
"Only enough blood to think with one head at a time" is a story as old as humanity....
"Sin (i.e. Adultery, fornication, whoremongering) will take you further than you want to go, keep you longer than you want to stay, and cost you more than you're willing to pay"

Can someone tell me what brand of watch costs $30K? I don't think a Rolex is anywhere near this expensive. And as for the earings and the Prada belt, let's just say he was at the wrong party's convention.
sorry
I have. He didn’t lose $50,000, but he did lose ALL he had with him.
Unless it is antique... the kind that has matching and registered serial numbers on all pieces... and prolly rfid.
Good luck fencing that one!
Pwned.

You guys are a bunch of heartless jerks.
This very thing happened to me.
Except it wasn't a hotel bar, it was a street corner in a bad neighborhood. And it wasn't a hotel room, it was my car. And it wasn't something in my drink, it was a gun. And it wasn't an attractive woman, although that's what my first assessment of him was.
And it wasn't a fancy watch and ring and stuff, it was my wallet... and my pants.
That's a moment I'll never forget, walking back into my house and trying to explain to my wife where my pants went. I've never seen her so angry, women get really short tempers when they're eight months pregnant.

There are people who are surrounded by bigots

These people are going to pull the lever for Obama

Who drags around $50k in jewelry and personal belongings to a convention?
I could understand a woman bringing new earrings and such....but a guy? What did this guy have? A $30k watch? A $8k pen? I don’t get it.
This is a guy? A Republican guy?
Obviously,his name wasn’t George Constanza! 8 Dollars!
ROTFL! omg
At least he has the right idea about Iran.
An expensive lesson. The jewelry items I can comprehend a bit but $1000 for a belt?
“As a single man, I was flattered by the attention of a beautiful woman who introduced herself to me.”
If that were to happen to me I would know to be on my guard — beautiful women look the other way when they see me.
According to this website, $30,000 is about right for a Rolex.

The guy might be rich, but he sure is stupid. Must’ve inherited his money. LOL
State Farm Insurance Claim Form
Items stolen, include description.
1) Watch. An expensive watch. ROLEX. Gold band. Oh, with diamonds.
2) Speaking of diamonds - two diamond ear rings.
3) And a diamond bracelet.
4) Another diamond bracelet for my other hand.
5) And a diamond ankle bracelet.
That’s what I would like to believe, looking at the value of the items, but he’s a GOP delegate and a fixture in Colorado Rep. politics.
They guy in this story has a whole lot more money than sense.
A true story. I swear.

Over the last month I became a victim of a clever scam while out shopping. Simply going out to get supplies has turned out to be quite traumatic. Don’t be naive enough to think it couldn’t happen to you or your friends. Here’s how the scam works. Two seriously good-looking 20-21 year-old girls come over to your car as you are packing your shopping into the trunk.
They both start wiping your windshield with a rag and Windex, with their breasts almost falling out of their skimpy T-shirts. It is impossible not to look.
When you thank them and offer them a tip, they say ‘No’ and instead ask you for a ride to another Home Depot. You agree and they get in the back seat. On the way, they start undressing. Then one of them climbs over into the front seat and starts crawling all over you, while the other one steals your wallet.
I had my wallet stolen November 3th, 10th, 17th, & 24th. Also December 1st, twice on the 8th, once on the 15th, and very likely this coming weekend.
So tell your friends to be careful.
60K in cash? Something smells.
Republican metrosexual type.
Well, at least it was a chick he went with.
Hey Owl man, there really is a big differece between using guns to rob folks and someone getting slipped a mickey. I’ll plead guilty to being a jerk (I’m entitled to be one), but you have to admit the lawyer getting screwed is funny, or at least all of us jerks find humor in it!
In the words of Ron White:
“You can’t fix stupid”
In the world of expensive watches, Rolex is a cheap brand. And you can definitely find a Rolex for $30,000. But if you want something more expensive, take a look at Breguet, for example.

Pulling an Eliot Spitzer???
Ulysses Nardine and some other obscure top brands cost that much. Not that I know anyone who owns such a thing. For a young man to own something like that is a waste of money.
Bizarre. He doesnt sound like the Republicans I know.
No we aren’t heartless, we were commenting on the story, not on a completely different scenario of you getting robbed at gun point. The person from the story is a dumbass.
I’m afraid I’m going to need a picture to determine whether this guy had it coming or if he is simply a victim of unforeseen circumstances.
I used to say “Never drive anything that costs more than your house.”
In this case I’ll say “Never wear stuff that costs more than the average car.”
He put the “D” in Dumb.
I told my girls to never leave a drink unattended - maybe his daddy should have told him the same.
“Go get undressed.” Man what was he, born yesterday?
$120k
Sure.
...hey, you COULD have at least MENTIONED that I shipped your pants back to you.
Talk about heartless jerks.
this is the most important sentence in the story. she drugged him when they were in the room. just goes to show you: never take a drink from someone. she saw the watch/clothes at the bar and set him up.
