Thanks for the kind words. I know our local police get tazed once a year and I don’t see them dying.

LOL. I know some of my email buddies lurk here too. I’ve turned several onto FR, and if they saw that, they would be the first to copy and past it into an email.

I believe your wife is blessed with a brave, loving husband. Bless ya man! Sorry for the ridicule you’re facing from some of the guys. Betcha this is the ideal time to mention to the wife how you’d like to buy that boat or whatever you’ve had your eye on.

And thank you for answering comment #20, ‘cause that’s where my mind went right off! :-D

Oh, if your wife still feels a lack of confidence in her new tazer? Offer yourself as a guinea pig once again. Tell her it’s important to get the adrenaline pumping and the device is more effective if you’re holding onto her arm like a real attacker.

My whole post mentions that freeplancer's wife's stun gun is the kind with fixed electrodes (not a Tazer), and on the ones I have seen they are between 1" and 2" apart.

These guns typically advertise delivery of 3-4 milliamps of current. This is well within the threshold that, if applied to the heart muscle, could cause fibrillation and eventual death.

But the pulsating nature of a stun gun's shock causes it to travel near the surface of the body, causing a wider area of neuromuscular disruption while at the same time lowering the risk of lethality. And really, there's not enough energy available in three 9V alkaline batteries to do it much different than that.

I wouldn't voluntarily let someone shock me anywhere on the upper body, neck, head, or on any two extremities. But as a 200 lb. middle aged guy who is otherwise healthy, I wouldn't be scared of a shock to the butt.

Thanks for the kind words. Since I already have a boat, I think a new hunting rifle might be in order. Cheers

I have been jolted with a stun gun in the back of my calf, thigh, arm, and knuckles and I did a stupid by putting it to my wrist (in the vicinity of the median nerve—it MAGNIFIES the experience greatly). I didn’t find it particularly painful (NOT the median nerve one—that hurt), but it was kind of disconcerting once you get past the initial shock

You can watch my former boss and his brother on Youtube if you do a search for taser and tongue —he does actually lick the thing while its sparking, the “imp” laughing in the background was a co-worker and I was sitting quietly in a chair behind the camera-man.

Also, I hear tell that some women cops will get the lower end stun guns, run ‘em till the get a lower battery charge and then use them as ...AHEM....uh you can use your imagination. Only heard about this one cause I know someone who thoughtfully replaced the batteries in his wife’s stun gun for her.....

Was on the wrong end of a stungun once. Yes, it was on purpose. Felt like a bee sting; I twitched and broke contact instinctively, then proceeded to dump 17 rounds into a target.

I was not impressed. Yes it hurt bad, but once contact ended I was mobile and motivated - something I’ve noticed in all such videos.

So, how did your underwear fare the ordeal? Did you have to discard them? :)

Depends...

I grew up on a farm in central Texas and I do know about electric fences. They are not friendly to you when you have bare feet in wet grass. I KNOW.

Some learn by studying. Some learn by observing others. Some just have to piss on the electric fence for themselves.

I never did that. The biggest problem I had with electric fences was never knowing when my father would turn them on. They would be off when I'd head for the garden or fields, and be ON coming back.

I went fishing one day, caught several nice bass and was walking back thru the wet grass. I had the fish on a metal chain type stringer, with their tails hitting the grass. I grabbed the electric fence with BOTH hands. Those bass were flopping worse than the BO or juan skerry ever did.
