It was pointed out several times during the Olympics that Shawn Johnson's parents mortgaged their house twice to pay for her lessons. I see nothing offensive here at all.
This ad also was clearly made before the Olympics, as the Hamm brothers did not compete, and Shawn won four medals. If this were truly exploitive, then the Hamms would not be in it and Shawn would be wearing her medals.
To: Drango
Agree - She’s cute - let her make some bux, and have some fun!

I think she said the national anthem. I don’t have a problem with it. She’s 16. Her agent is trying to get her exposure for endorsemnts. Just a kid making some $.

She’s to lead the Pledge of Allegiance.
To: Military family member
The worst thing about that ad is that Shawn Johnson has a deeper voice than those two “guys.”

I’m surprised that some ‘conservatives’ would object to athletes endorsing a product. Is it because the product is Taco, which happens to be Mexican food?

There’s a restaurant in L.A. called the Pink Taco. It’s a slang term that most people understand right away. Making her taco pop is a hilarious double-entendre.

I laughed when I heard that on the commercial.
Then again, I have the sense of humor of a 12-year-old.

In our employee newspaper there was once for sale in the Automotive section:
“A 1968 Bull Taco.”

Levity aside, she’s a great sport! I wish her the best!
