We enjoyed reading Jane Ahlin’s column published on inforum.com, “McCain’s good-ol’-boy fun won’t win the hearts of women voters,” about McCain jokingly suggesting that his wife partake in the Buffalo Chip beauty pageant in Sturgis, S.D.

We would like to take this opportunity to let you know that Gotopless.org is organizing an upcoming Gotopless national protest on Aug. 23, to which Mrs. McCain has formally been invited, because gender inequality is unfortunately not a joke in the United States when men are free to be sans shirt while women are arrested and fined for this “criminal” act.

If Mrs. McCain is to be the future first lady, we hope she will be able to influence her husband on this issue. Please note that Mrs. Obama also received a formal invitation on behalf of Gotopless.org.

Seriously, what’s the problem? Breasts are not sexual organs the way penises or vaginas are. In Europe and Israel, it’s perfectly normal for women to go to the beach topless, just like men. Why do people have to act like they’ve never seen a breast before? It should be no big deal. (in my case, it’s definitely a “small” deal, or two small deals)

It's unfortunate, but we are raised to believe that female breasts are these forbidden, magical, and incredibly wonderful things.

Breasts themselves are not [particularly] sexual organs, as you say; but they are charged with that connection by our society, and that's damned hard to overcome.

Without taking your eyes off the movie, and without causing any pinching or other disruption of your date's skin.

Unless your date was one of the more modern girls who eschewed bras altogether. Which was more often the case with girls of the smaller persuasion.

Aside: I have always preferred small-breasted women as partners, in part because they seem to have a more reasonable, practical, and mature view of their own bodies. I don't seem to have been cursed with the "bigger-is-better" mentality of a lot of males. Besides, smaller breasts hold up better in the long run, which matters somewhat more as I get older and thus my women friends do also.

There are a lot of things that are perfectly normal in European society that we DO NOT want to include in our culture, especially when it comes to things of a sexual nature. As someone who spent a couple of years in Germany, I can testify to this. I am less familiar with Israel's social mores. A line of modesty has to be drawn somewhere, however, and the fact is that, despite how female breasts should be viewed non-sexually, they are viewed that way and will continue to be as long as there are men on the planet.
