Good Monday morning to all.
A tropical storm approaches the Texas Gulf Coast.
Obama has agreed to 3 structured presidential debate forums.
RIP Alexander Solszenitsyn, witness & survivor of the horrors of the Soviet Gulag.
Hi everyone!
Good morning, Molly.
Thank you for the start!
Structured debate forums? Does that mean John McCain’s mouth will be duct-taped?
Good morning all. We are working hard trying to get daughter moved in and set up.
Good morning.
Irena Sendler also died over the weekend. Y’all may not have heard of her. I didn’t either until I read her obituary. But she, in Poland during WWII, smuggled at lease 2500 young Jewish children to safety. Prior to her joining the underground she had smuggled about 500 Jews out of Poland also.
She was nominated for the Nobel Peace prize, but the bestowers of that dubious honor deemed Gorebull warming to be of more significance than actually saving lives of people.
Miss Marple, be careful as you reconoiter. I heard they take no prisoners.
LOL
Obama is all fluff, puff and no fiz.
On schedule for today includes Republicans returning to the House chamber and continuing to call for the RATS to come back and deal with the energy issue. These guys need our support. They need to be told that we support them and want to have more domestic drilling and refining.
So, today call the House and give them a thumbs-up. Call the media and tell them to cover this; that the Repubs want to work on the problem and the RATS are out-of-town. Call the White House and ask the President to call the House back into session. Call the RATS and tell them you want them to change their stand and support the republican position on domestic drilling.
Welcome to ATRW.
Mitt Romney just gave Nobama a new, very-apt name: BOTH-WAYS BARAK.
Thank you. I am glad to be here with you all.
Welcome to ATRW. He reminds me of a spineless schoolyard bully with a glass jaw. He can dish it out, but can’t take it.
So introduce me to ATRW. I have a general idea. but what is the pecking order ? how does this work ?
Will do, Jem.
It is my understanding that the House is not officially in recess. Therefore, the President cannot call for a special session or make appointments.
Can anyone confirm this?
I could be wrong but I think they voted to recess for 5 weeks on Friday. Pelosi forced the vote which passed by ONE vote. But I think it is official so President Bush can act.
No. But the Democrats might ask the MSM to apply rope torture to McCain just before the debates begin.
Curtesy orientation ping. This is the current week’s thread.
Welcome!
There is no pecking order here...........Just like-minded FRiends discussing all things congenially.
lysie and Molly Pitcher are, however, our wonderful and special leaders. They get us started on Staurdays and Mondays, and we are most thankful.
;o)
Come back often!
We do have a ping list, so let lysie or me know if you'd like to be added...
Seems to me there were other new folks around last week....???
Pecking order: hmmm. Lepton runs the whole thing. You can gain points and move up in status by sending him chocolate brownies.
LOL. That is funny. I will have my wife make some. haha
LOL! All the while the MSM ennabling O in his need for control & set pieces...
Ditto on the welcome!
Come back often!
Yes. Welcome to ATRW! I’m glad you’re here. Do you dance?
But that was the deal when carter agreed to just one debate with Reagan.. Reagan disconnected his mike and walked over to shake hands with Carter. Carter was shorter than Reagan and Carter had demanded that Reagan not be in the same TV frame. But Reagan broke the rule while smiling broadly and Shaking an upset Jimmy Carters little hand.
But three debates are certainly interesting. Notice that they are beginning to talk about Obama running a safe campaign. He is running the Jimmy Carter 1980 type campaign. The difference is at this point in 1980, Jimmy Carter had a 25 point lead in his internal party polls.
Lets look at some of the data inside the Media polls. The most recent polls are polling 39 percent Democrats, 32 percent republicans and 29 percent independents. They were just a month ago polling 34 percent Democrats, 27 percent Republicans and 39 percent independents. But McCain gained a 9 point lead in independents so they had to cut the number of independents polled. They also show that only 74 percent of Democrats support Obama while 88 percent of Republicans support McCain.
But if you add leaners you get 77 percent of Democrats for Obama, 81 percent of Republicans for McCain and McCain with a 23 point lead among independents.
The question I have to ask is they have the race a tie. But for that to be true the number of democrat voters has to be equal to the republican voters plus 9 percent of independents. And if Obama has only 77 percent democrat support while McCain has 91 percent Republican support, there is something just not quite right.
We have some history that Obama polls about 5 points better than he gets votes on election day.
But the thing that hits me in the face is Obama only has 77 percent of Democrats supporting him. The question is, what will the 23 percent of Democrats who are not for Obama do? Will they come out and vote.. but vote for McCain, or not vote for president at all.. or just not bother to vote?
If a significant number are ticked at Democrats over Obama the far left liberal, no oil drilling, and surrender now then will they vote at all?
If a significant number of those angry Democrats are angry enough not to vote, then what happens to the house and senate races? The Democrats are sitting in joy city waiting to get larger margins in both houses. But I wonder if they know the anger that nearly 1/4 of the Democratic party feels about the nomination of Obama and their positions on oil drilling.
Here in Ohio life long Democrat after life long Democrat tells me they can't vote for Obama and will vote for McCain. Others say they can't vote for a Republican and so they are not going to vote.
The more I look at the polls and the more I talk to people on the street, the more likely it seems that the Democratic celebration of their huge victory has started way too soon. Obama could turn out to be the mirror image of Barry Goldwater. Goldwaterites were certain Barry would win 1964 by a huge margin, when in fact he suffered the biggest defeat of the 20th century.
This Barry errrrrrrrr Barrack is in line for the same sort of fall.
I’m having a hard time getting going this a.m...are you still in F.?
Well, it is MONDAY.
;o)
Yes, still in FL. Been out early mornings weeding and trimming. Too hot to work past 10AM.
Both-ways Barrak is now saying that Michigan and Florida delegates should have a FULL VOTE at the convention. Hmmm. Veddy, veddy interesting.
By structured debate nobama means he alone will be there, Sen McCain will not be invited. After all nobama is All there is.
Good morning, and thanks for the start and link, Molly!
GOOD morning!
Thanks, Jemian, LBKQ, and Molly Pitcher for remembering that another year has rolled round for me....For years, I’ve only admitted to being 39...lol..., but I may up it now to 49. LOL
