The Los Angeles Police Department says one of its officers was shot and wounded by Long Beach police.

Here is the chance for all you cop apologists and boot lickers to jump right in and explain who was right and who was wrong in this one.
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus
I say we let them both go at it again and see who wins.
turf war.
ROTFLMAO!
Clearly a case of out of control cops running wild in our streets.
;^)
Another shooting between two rival gangs
Kinda hard to tell from one line excerpt, but it would appear that you have already made up your mind.
LMAO!
Post of the day!
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus
Not much detail. Was this a no knock raid gone bad?
.
This is an easy one. One cop was right and justified and the the other cop is innocent.
Probably more true than either of us really wants it to be.
COPS GONE WILD!
This is like a perpetual motion machine of innocence.
I heard about this on the radio. It seems Long Beach Police got a call of a man walking down the street and someone saw him with a gun. They spotted him and shot him. He’s in very serious condition. When they found out that he was an off duty LAPD officer, the cone of silence came down— no further comments coming from Long Beach.
Bump
When my brother lived in LA, he said there were three major gangs in SoCal: The Bloods, The Crips and the LAPD.
SO “Here is the chance for all you cop apologists and boot lickers to jump right in and explain who was right and who was wrong in this one.”
Your statement demonstrates a level of ignorance and absolute contempt for a profession that is breathtaking. You would tar and feather tens of thousands of honorable people who take risks YOU would not for the actions of a few.
The left uses the same mentality when a soldier commits a crime you used here. For example the soldiers who raped a girl in Iraq and then killed her and her family became the tool by the left to smear the thousands serving in Iraq. They did it because they hate the military. YOU do it because you hate the police.
“Boot lickers”, “cop apologists”? How about calling us conservatives or law abiding citizens. The label won't apply to you. No honest conservative would hold the police or military in contempt. That is for the likes of Code Pink or ex cons.
He was shot for his own safety.
“Don’t move! Get down! Hands up! Put your hands on the ground! On you knees! Stay there! Hands down! Hands up where I can see them!”
Blam, blam, blam.
Well, he “refused to follow instuctions.”
Judge each by their actions, not affiliations.
Cops are not all magically knightly, nor are they all besoted sluggards and crooks. Same goes for all men (and women).
Both positions are logically and morally flawed.
God Bless
And here’s a chance for all you cop-haters to cheer at having at least one jack-booted fascist taken off the streets.
According to the LA Times website, the cop who was shot, Jason Geggie, 26, has been charged with “exhibiting a firearm in the presence of a police officer in a threatening manner.” Reported that he refused to drop his gun when ordered to and was shot in the arm and torso.
Or it could be another chance for a pot-head libertine to attempt to paint with a broad brush.
my guess is there was alcohol and/or a domestic dispute involved.
we have a rule: the officer in uniform is in charge. i am guessing the lapd guy did not follow that rule.
if he said then it must be true!
"Exhibiting"? That's an interesting word to use. So he didn't point the gun at the other officer or threaten to shoot him. I wonder how he "exhibited" it.

Very interesting. As I understand it, it is *not* illegal to walk down the street with a holstered gun in California.
It is only illegal to walk down the street with a holstered gun that is loaded, and the police are given the power to check every gun they see to determine if it is loaded or not.
I could be wrong. California has become famous for making drastic changes in its gun laws frequently, always making them more draconian. I am open to correction from someone who has researched the subject in the last year.
“And heres a chance for all you cop-haters to cheer at having at least one jack-booted fascist taken off the streets.”
Yea!!! *dances happy little jig*
Off duty officers can carry a loaded gun, no problem. Someone may have spotted the gun under a shirt, or he may have checked the gun while in public.. not a good idea.
W/O reading or knowing anything about it, I’d say the Long Beach Cops were wrong. They’re some pretty rough guys, and they have a track record.
“Off duty officers can carry a loaded gun, no problem. Someone may have spotted the gun under a shirt, or he may have checked the gun while in public.. not a good idea.”
Yes, off duty officers can carry a loaded gun throughout the United States, now. I think every citizen who has not shown themselves to be a danger to others should be able to do so.
I reminds me a bit of “Animal Farm”. “Some Animals are more equal than others.”
Ignorance, no. Contempt, yes, but law enforcement has earned my contempt. I know that not all citizen, law-enforcement encounters are taped or recorded by neutral third parties. In fact I would guess that the percentage is well under 1%. probably under 0.1%. Now the laws of probability tell me that for every taped incident where an officer severely violates a citizen's rights, there are thousands where rights are violated, but there is no neutral record.
But, I also know that it is almost impossible to win a complaint against an officer unless there is a neutral third-party record.
The number of complaints sustained and verified by third-party recordings or egregious facts tells me that there is a very serious problem in this country and "professional" law enforcement tells us routinely that no change is necessary. Any real professional would be pushing for change and reform.
How about calling us conservatives or law abiding citizens. The label won't apply to you. No honest conservative would hold the police or military in contempt. That is for the likes of Code Pink or ex cons.
You don't have to claim I am not conservative just because I understand the realities of life, and the laws of probability.
Who was wrong? You are in the first instance in posting something just to pick an argument. There’s no useful information in the link or your post that would even suggest right, wrong or anything else.
there's your problem. i think the lapd guy was off-duty and maybe drunk. the long beach guys were in uniform and responding to a job. that means they are in charge.
Turf war?
” but law enforcement has earned my contempt....”
Please tell us how, don’t keep everyone in suspense!
So then, we’re both assuming?
My opinion comes from living in the area, and having witnessed their tactics more than a few times. As well, most of LB is a very, very tough area with lots of gangs, lots of crime, and lots of stressful situations.
I’m sure I could be wrong, and I hope so, but I have the problem of too many bad memories needing to be replaced with good ones.
Oh, come on. It is difficult to believe that anyone with an IQ above room temperature could say something like that.
Lets stand back & look at what we do have. Cop A has shot cop B, seriously wounding him.
With nothing more than that there are a limited number of possibilities.
If cop A was right, then cop B must have been committing some kind of a serious crime, otherwise there is no justification for shooting him.
If cop B was not committing a serious crime, then cop A was wrong.
Based on actual results, there just aren't any other possibilities.
Even if cop A thought cop B was committing a serious crime, he has no justification to shoot until he is certain.
“Based on actual results, there just aren’t any other possibilities.”
Imagination is not a substitute for information. Was A right? You have no idea. Was B right? You have no idea. Were both in the wrong? You have no idea. Were errors made on both sides that led to the shooting? You have no idea.
What you do have is a self proclaimed contempt for both persons that you do not know.
So “DO NOT KNOW”, you really shouldn’t comment about anyone else’s I.Q.
like i said earlier, this article has basically zero in terms of facts concerning the situation. but we can assume the LB cops were on duty and the lapd was off. thats where i’m coming from.
So much for the right to keep and bear arms!
“Look out. He’s coming right at us!”
