Go to the FedEx.com homepage, and select the country drop down list. Notice the first two countries.
1. U.S.A. 2. U.S.A. - Espanol
FedEx, when it absolutely has to sell your country down the river.
1) welcome to FreeRepublic
2) it’s a business decision, not a political statement
While you are at it you may want to boycott the IRS who also has a spanish version of its website.
I’m confused.
You think the Spanish language has become illegal?
Plenty of primarily Spanish-speaking people in the US.
Some of them are even LEGAL.
Pick better fights.
Might as well boycott the Hospitals where signs are in spanish and english while you’re at it.
Yeah, I don’t blame a business for doing something like that. That’s just a symptom, not the disease.
You’ll change your mind about UPS the first time you get a package that needs signature. 8-5 only, M-F only, you can change to pickup but pickup has to be at their primary office in your region not one of the conveniently place UPS stores. UPS blows.
Seems like good business sense. Go just about anywhere in Europe and you’ll see a lot of business services available in english.
Sorry, don't like that most businesses do this, but it is their right to do so.
Go ahead and UPS a package to say........Greece. You’ll get a Quantum View notice written in Greek!!! Let’s just stop shipping stuff, and use donkeys.
Yeah, at least when I ask for a signature, UPS gets the recipient's signature. Last time I used FedEx, the contract driver signed my wife's initials. She was home, in the house, with the front door open (screen door closed), when the moron did this. She didn't hear him, he didn't knock or ring the bell. My son alerted her to his presence, but by the time she got to the front door, he was gone.
We called FedEx about this. I think the contract driver may have been fired.
Some businesses have "gotten around this" by speaking to the listener JUST in Spanish (saying essentially) "press 2 for Spanish" ("pressione DOS para espanol"???) and then following with the main menu in English if you didn't press "anything".
It’s still a variation on the theme.
Any business willing to charge you 10 dollars because you misspelled a street name gets no leeway on the language of their host country.
The choice of languages and how they are placed on the site is probably a matter of simple metrics, analyzing who uses FedEx and adding the options in relation to the customer base.
I’ve changed my mind on UPS after they just leave packages at my door, even if they are signature required because it is expensive electronic equipment. (The latest was they left a 30” computer monitor, box displaying what it is, right at the door without even knocking.)
For both FDX and UPS, if a signature required is not specifically requested (and paid for as it is an upcharge) then packages can be driver released.
And I’m boycotting Taco Bell!
Are you suggesting that they don’t provide services for Spanish speaking customers in this country, of which there are many?
Pick something else to get all indignant over.
Usted está perdiendo su tiempo.

Welcome to Free Republic. I hope you're not one of those trolls who attempts to get FReepers to say non-politically-correct things which then end up in newspaper articles about how "racist" we are.
They were around in droves last election.
You aren't one of those losers ... are you?
Exactly. It's almost time for the War On Christmas(tm) to start!
I don’t think that is a language thing. If I am dumb enough not to spell the address correctly and they spend time and money for “my” mistake, I should pay.
Business is business.
Maybe it’s Bill O’RLY in drag.
LOL!
One Pinhead looking for others.....
UPS is a pro-union company. That’s pretty liberal... Again, just like the pizza company in Dallas that accepts pesos, it’s a business decision, not a political statement.
Fedgov has sold this country down the river.
Fedex is a company trying to sell a service to all people in the US, including those fedgov has allowed to illegally enter.
it is nice they put both first - i hate those pages that use a default country menu where US is down below United Kingdom, Uganda, etc.
Boycott of one, ha ha.
I’m just saying, rather see it in English only.
You can always have a choice for language, that’s no problem.
The problem is the it’s not labeled as “SELECT your LANGUAGE”, it’s labeled as “SELECT your COUNTRY”, and the country is:
USA - Espanol
Show me that on a map!
If you look at my posts flagging content as racist from yesterday, you’ll get the answer to your question.
Guess you like to assume the worst, huh?
Yes, but apparently unlike you, FedEx recognizes that their customers aren’t “English Only.”
But carry on, if you have some emotional need to have the last word. I’ve already spent too much of my time here on your little conservative witch hunt.
But thanks for playing. Leave a tip in the FReepathon jar on your way out.
Yup. It's an election year.
What is your problem? I’m simply pointing out that they aren’t asking you to select a language, they are asking you to select a country, and the country is listed as USA - Espanol. Once you can point to that on a map...
What’s a conservative witch hunt? I am a conservative. Probably more than you, since you seem to have a chip on your shoulder.
I dunno, since I’ve been here since 2000, and you’ve been here 4 days, I’ll stack my conserative credentials up against yours any day of the week.
I think Jenny has you pegged.

And all this time I thought that FED-EX was Britney’s EX?!
UPS and FedEx both have Next Day by 10:30AM service, and it's pretty reliable.
Their new fuel surcharges are infuriating but understandable.
They are high, but UPS, FedEx and DHL's surpluses are almost identical.
And you're being a thin-skinned liberal boy. FedEx is all about making money. People in the USA speak English first (Hence the 1st entry). A great many people in the USA also speak Spanish. Enough to warrant #2 USA - Spanish.
Right now, it's about making a buck, not politics.
Now when you see #1 USA Spanish, then complain.
Thank you for the tip. I learned something new today after all ;o)
last word b****
