Would any one here be interested in a pictorial tour of the "Freedon Trail" in Boston?
I live downtown and am going to take the tour and if there is enough interest, I will bring a camera and make pics available.
Say hi to the bums for me!
Yes I would.
;-)
yes, sounds nice...better than the local travel bureau photos...real live people photos.
Yes, I’d love to see them, thanks!!
Great idea. Count me in!
get plenty of girl shots, please.
Someday I would like to visit Charlestown and Temple street. They were my great Garndparents times removed that owned a farm from the edge of the Mystic river to the base of Winters Hill as well as the other way to Bunker Hill. They all fought in the revolutionary war. They also owned land in Concord and were in service as minutement in the battle at Concord Bridge.
Take a photo of the statue of Mary Dyer the Quaker Martyr which is at the Old State House. She is also a ancestor of mine. Her real name is also listed as Mrs Mary Stewart in some records-it is said she was the child of Lady Arabella Stewart and was taken out of England because of the power struggle with the gay King James.
Mary was hanged June 1st 1660 - Boston Commons for preaching the Quaker faith in Boston. Gull dam Puritans..
Please post your pictures. My son ran the Boston Marathon last April. We had a great time visiting Boston and really enjoyed the Freedom Trail. It’s only 2 and half miles long but contains so much American history.
Everyone should visit Boston and see the sights.
Sure...I see parts of the trail almost daily, but I honestly haven’t walked the whole trail in a while and could use a refresher...Be sure to include some pictures of the “campers” on the Boston Common.
Yes. Thank you very much.
You want to see bums, go to Cambridge, in Harvard Square and on Route 2 near the Alwife station. It pisses me off. Those are people COMPLETELY capable of working, but choose to panhandle, annoy people and obstruct traffic instead.
There is always a dumb ass who rolls down their window to hand them a dollar. I just cannot believe it.
In contrast, look at this guy:

This guy looks like he has cerebral palsy. he can only make a gutteral noise, move his head slightly, and has limited use of one arm.
He sits in his wheelchair right at the corner of Newbury Street at the Boston Common. Someone takes him there, sets him up with a cooler of soda on ice, and he does the rest. You put your money in the slot, and he lifts up the cover for you with his one good hand.
He isn't begging, though he could. He provides a service for people who want a cold soda on a hot day. He contributes. And then I see those scumbags in Cambridge who have full use of their bodies and minds, and instead, choose to panhandle.
I asked the guy if I could take his picture, to which he readily agreed. I keep it for times like this when the no-loads in Cambridge piss me off.
I love the city, it is very interesting and walkable. Pretty safe, too. Since they tore the Expressway down and forced the traffic underground, it has changed the character of the city.
I just wish the city wasn’t populated by liberals.
That would be very nice. Thank you for asking.
The perfect teat...
I’d like that. Thanks.
What I want to say will get me banned again [for the ump-teenth time] But, hey,...
bring an unloaded weapon of choice n one hand, and the 'critical mass' in the other...
It all started here, and there is no reason it cannot happen again as the founders advocated.
Say HI to Whitey!
Yes, I would love to see your photos, also.
Thanks
Whitey, Janis Joplin and Osama have coffee together every day at 'Borders'...
We went of the Freedom Trail back in 1997 and it was fantastic. Looking forward to the pics.
I just wish the city wasnt populated by liberals.
Me too...It was always a democrat-dominated city, but in the past, this was represented by immigrants who worked significantly in unionized industries and had come from the “old country” literally dirt poor. While they were democrat, they had much of the independent, conservative and family-oriented nature that is republicanism...Now this has been replaced by the yuppie, college crowd and their whiny nanny-statism.
Oh Yes. Please do take pictures of your visit. We will look forward to your commentary too.
If you’re thinking of traveling to Boston but find the downtown hotels too expensive try the Motel 6 located in Braintree across the street from the Red Line T station. It’s half the price of the downtown hotels and very convenient, only a 20 minute subway ride to downtown Boston. A shopping center with a grocery store and restaurants is a half mile from the motel.
The subway system goes everywhere. It’s easy to get around without a car.
would love to see the pictures of the trail. please freepmail me when/where they will be available!
Little known is the military/family YMCA located over near Old Ironsides. If you have any kind of military ID this place is cheap, safe, clean and 5 minutes across the bridge from the North End.
Oh, and I would love to see the pictures.
Is the area that I mentioned around Charlestown a safe place to walk?
I could mapquest it but I dunno how to post it here.
I’m not familiar with the area of Charlestown you mentioned, but the historic area of Charlestown including Bunker Hill is very safe. The area is always full of tourists. I spent three days in Boston riding the subway and walking the Freedom Trail and never once felt unsafe. Stay in the historic areas and you’ll be fine.
