Ingraham's Fox Experiment Ends
DCRTV.com ^ | 07/03/08 | DCRTV.com

Posted on 07/07/2008 7:48:59 AM PDT by raccoonradio

7/3 - DCRTV hears that Fox News has decided to end its 5 PM Laura Ingraham experiment after just three weeks. The DC-based right-leaning host has already returned to her national radio show and will continue to fill-in on Bill O'Reilly's TV show. Fox will return to "America's Election HQ" at 5 PM, with rotating hosts. DCRTV has reported that Citadel talker WMAL wants Ingraham for its late morning slot. She currently airs on talker WTNT, which was just bought by Redskins owner Dan Snyder.....

And from Tom Taylor on http://www.radio-info.com:

"Laura Ingraham off the Fox News Channel 5pm hosting gig? DCRTV.com says the three-week experiment – which began when Laura was still on that involuntary hiatus from her syndicated radio show – is over, and that Fox is going to rotate hosts for the 5pm hour. That was its original plan, but some folks suspected Laura might latch on as the permanent host. Ingraham will still do fill-ins on the Fox “O’Reilly Factor.”

Why was Laura on involuntary hiatus?

Ya, I don’t get it, what happened to her, what did she do, I’ve never understood all this?

Why was Laura on involuntary hiatus?

In preparation for the coming "Fairness Doctrine".

I like Laura a lot, but I really felt the show was mis-named. “this Just In” really sounds too much like a breaking news segment, not a show. (But then maybe that is all it turned out to be in the end anyway.)

Doesn’t sound like they would have Monica Crowley in her place then.

Sadly, Laura is gone from Fox News. But I expect we will continue to see her as guest or guest host on FNC.

For certain, Fox has to dump Greta soon or see their ratings continue to slide. So there will be a slot opening soon. And you can't have Megyn Kelly on every show. Megyn is really cute but overworked IMHO.

She returned last Monday to the radio show but WKRC
in Cincy had enough and put Glenn Beck in instead.

I used to listen to Ingraham occasionally.

However, when Hillary did her teary-eyed stunt in NH, Laura commented on FoxNews the following morning that she thought it was somewhat sincere.

Then, at the opening of her radio program she said she believed it to be sincere, and immediately added, “for about a nanosecond.”

Later in the radio program, she interviewed Terry McAuliffe. They discussed the teary-eye event. Laura went on and on about how she could feel Hillary’s pain and knew her tears to be sincere, yada yada yada.

So, she basically went from one extreme of believing it to the other extreme of not believing it and back again — all in the same morning.

I cannot switch the channel quick enough when Greta comes on. Who can watch that crap? Every night, the same tired act. Who really cares about these obscure crime stories, and why are you forcing them down our throats trying to make us care?

I've been on Laura's show, twice. The first time was an interview over my book. She was gracious, pleasant, and punched the book up to #35 on Amazon.

The second time, as a call-in, she was rude and seemed to deliberately miss my point. I like her no-holds-barred approach on Fox, but she can be grating.

I tried listening to her, I really did. And I wanted to listen because she does have some interesting takes on the news. But her voice drones obnoxiously (way too monotone) and her show’s production is a little two sophomoric.

“Then who will cover Aruba??????”

I just took my 21 yr old daughter and her friend on vacation. I said I only have one rule for them, no hooking up with the natives. The friend said “I don’t want to be a Natalie!”

So Greta did some good by raising awareness.

IMO her first hour is often quite good, and the second hour is normally OK. But by the third hour she’s usually silly — even childish. Give me Boortz or even Glen Beck for that time slot!

Love listening to her views, but Just In was terrible. I expected more hard news stories. And Fox’s make up artists went way overboard cheapening the show.

Thats not the Ingraham I know.

Bounce that bombastic, narcisstic, self-absorbed O’Reilly and replace him with Laura. She would work for less and would discuss issues rather than turning issues and guests into segways to push himself.

Monica Crowley did very well. L Ingraham has been seriously curt with callers and not paying attention since her return. Perhaps she is a mere human after all.

Also, the skit with the high diver was earthy enough, and we knew Laura is an earthy person, but she doesn’t need to display her skills in that area on the radio show.

The DC-based right-leaning host

She's farther to the right that Bill O'Reilly. Haven't heard her come down as moderate on issues.

They played Back In Black and other songs/quotes/etc at the hourly breaks.

I'm not sorry to hear that. I wish they would can the election couple crap and go back to John Gibson. Everything Fox has done is downhill from there IMO. In fact, Gibson was the one last show I made a point of watching on Fox. Sick of the other junk that has degenerated over the past couple of years to UNWATCHABLE.

No kidding!!!!

What the heck was up with that? Her makeup people sabotaged her beauty. It looked like someone slammed powder on her face.

I tivoed a few episodes of her Fox show and didn’t fine it very interesting.

The opening was always particularly painful with the political jokes. One of the most painful things to watch is an unfunny person trying to be funny. I never even cracked a smile at those ‘zingers,’ let alone laughed.

The rest of the show wasn’t much better. I like Laura and listen to her radio show regularly, but that Fox experiment was awful.

I love Laura on the radio but didn’t like the show. I think she had a hard time controlling the guests. She is fairly easy on the eyes although they put too much makeup on her.
